2019 Recruiting - Football

USC had an in-home visit with Bru McCoy & family on Sunday night and he OVs to USC this weekend.
Clay Helton is staying, which gives us the "stability" angle to sell
We will in-home with McCoy & family right after the OV but this OV may be the decider
EJ Holland says McCoy's mom did tell him the whole fam is looking forward to waking up and catching the Big 12 title game on TV. Plus we still have De’Gabriel Floyd working on him. Even the Floyd family is chipping in by talking to the McCoy fam.
As always, we will see

McCoy is the first part of this clip

If 40 times posted on the internet are accurate, Houston is the fastest recruit we have for 2019. Matching speed with OU is an area where Herman says there is work to do.

Thought I read somewhere that Tee Martin was lead recruiter for Bru. Can u confirm @Joe Fan ? If so, that is huge

Yes he was
Martin was at the McCoy's house for USC's recent in-home visit
It's why they moved his USC OV back to Dec 14 (was supposed to be a little earlier)

JUCO RB Rhamondre Stevenson is supposed to OV to Texas, ou and Utah. He will sign in Feb. So it sounds like he will be a May graduate.

He said that although ou offered first, Drayton/Texas have been recruiting him for a longer period of time.

That dude lays the wood. I could see him as a LB with a few more lbs

BTW, Owens takes his OV to UT next weekend and will sign early. They say he has been working hard on being an EE

UCLA had been trying to get him in for an OV, but it sounds like that possibility is off

USC was not having the best recruiting year before the firings. They are ranked #29 in the 247 team rankings

They have 14 commits, with no 5-stars and just seven 4-stars (per 247). They have no one inside the state's top 10 committed and barely have two in the top 20 (#s 19 & 20). We currently have the higher ranked Calif recruit in Floyd who is #11 (we also have Calif's #27 in Adimora). But they are still in it among the state's three total 5-stars, and are favored in the CBs for 2 of those 3, including McCoy.

This reflects well on Team Herman's ability to recognize what was happening in the talent-rich state and make in-roads. But it is Oregon who really took advantage of the opportunity there this year. The Big O currently has 5 higher-ranked Calif kids before USC's first commit and it seems destined to land the state's #1 -- Kayvon Thibodeaux. Oregon's success in Calif has them ahead of us at #4 in the team rankings

So it does appear ou is after Texas-commit WR Demariyon Houston as a replacement for WR Arjei Henderson, who they just lost.
His teammate and friend RB Marcus Major is already committed to ou

Bru McCoy moving his OV to USC back to Dec 14-16 is probably not a good sign. We were hoping to get him back on campus that weekend for an UOV. And I cant see how them landing Kingsbury would help either. We will see.

Here are a lot of quotes about the upcoming Big 12 Championship Game from ou and Texas recruiting targets --

2020 — Zach Evans — 5-star RB — North Shore: “I’m checking out that line from BOTH teams. I’m also checking to see how involved the running backs are in the game. This is going to come down to the trenches and coaching though. It’ll show who’s more disciplined and who learned from the last game and applied it to getting ready for this game. It should be fun.”

2019 — Noah Cain – 4-star RB – IMG Academy: “Think it’s going to be another high scoring game and I’m taking Texas 50-47.”

Texas, Oklahoma targets offer opinions on the Big 12 Championship game

A win over OU and in the bowl game would be great for us to get some of the borderline kids. However, regardless of how we do to finish the season, my thoughts are that a lot of recruits see the progress Herman is making and want to be apart of the resurgence and lay the foundation for a championship level program.

I'm not very concerned with USC. They just fired half the staff. Unless they can get some new seasoned coaches onboard ASAP their going to behind for the early signing and may miss out in February also.
