2019 Recruiting - Football

Update on McCoy from OrangeBloods
They are saying McCoy has yet to file his appeal for a waiver to the NCAA.
They think he will make the application this month, and are saying that the family wanted to be as thorough with the process as possible to make sure he is in the best position to be approved.

Thanks Joe.

Stanford recruits nationally, self explanatory.
The only other top choices are UCLA, and SC save the Bay Area and Cal.
Unless Chip turns it around soon, or SC hires Urban, doesn’t seem like this will change anytime soon. Helton has about two months IMHO.
Oregon is cashing in.
Crazy it got this far out there.

University of Spoiled Children remains the only school that has burglar bars on the football dorm. Doesn't have its own stadium, although the Coliseum is across the street. It was in freefall when Pete Carroll arrived, but the open checkbooks saved them. Unless they're playing another power, there are lots of empty seats in the old stadium.

University of Caucasians Lost among Asians has a much preferred location, but lacks the storied history and plays in a stadium an hour across town. It's been decades since they won anything of relevance. Kelly isn't making a ripple in the recruiting market.

Berzerkley - have you seen those women? Were they ever good? See also Berdahl, Powers, Fenves.

Oregon - Knight's gimicky uniforms only appeal to a small portion

Big question is why Peterson isn't owning SoCal and the Bay Area.

Two great acronyms I have never heard before classic!
Now even more fitting on the first...
Crew tryouts, no experience necessary

There was a change in the relationship between USC and the Coliseum a couple of years ago. Technically USC now "runs" the Coliseum and is putting in quite a lot of improvements. Initially, the improvements were to be paid for by USC "donors", but along came the Rams whose rent payments are a big help. In the agreement with the owners of the Coliseum retain the right to host the Olympics.

Sounds like JUCO LB Juwan Mitchell has already set up his visit to Texas for May 11
Juwan Mitchell, Butler C.C., Inside Linebacker

I have moved Juwan Mitchell to 2019. He was looked at as a 2020 but it now appears he can enroll in a new school next month which, if so, would make him a 2019. Bonus LB in the nick of time (hopefully). We flipped LB Gary Johnson pretty late in the process too.

OB says Mitchell has more or less informed the Minnesota coaching staff he has de-committed from them. As a full qualifier out of high school, he can leave his JUCO at the end of the spring semester and enroll at his next school in June. He would then have 4 years to play 3 - just like Caleb Johnson. Mitchell played with 2019 Texas commit DE Jacoby Jones

He is supposed to be in Austin Friday.

247 reclassified him to 2019 as well.

2019 4-star CB Chris Steele who signed with Florida and who we also recruited (he was a top 50 ranked recruit) is already transferring.
He's been there just 5 months. As you might guess, this one has quite the story --

" .... Steele reportedly requested to change dorm rooms shortly after he enrolled because he felt uncomfortable sharing a residence with four-star quarterback signee Jalon Jones. The staff decided not to move him during the spring semester, although they did plan on moving him in the summer.

Jones also entered the transfer portal earlier this month after he was accused of sexual battery of two women at the residence on April 6. Steele and fellow freshman defensive back Jaydon Hill allegedly walked in on the first incident involving Jones, which forced Jones to stop. The two alleged victims declined to press charges, though the names of Steele and Hill were both included in reports about the incident....."

Florida freshman CB Chris Steele, a former top 50 prospect, will transfer from Gators

Steele to us, Jones to Baylor? Gotta go where you fit in, I suppose...

Texas 247 has a story out saying OL Parker Braun may want to take a RS in order to work on his pass blocking, given that he is coming from the GTech system which runs a triple option offense. And he also wants the opportunity to focus on his MBA in the business school.
This is not decided yet and he will still fully discuss it with our coaches in camp.

Well, his pass blocking is already an improvement over his predecessor's. IMHO, Vahe was a big strong guard who was valuable in short yardage situations. But his pass blocking often left something to be desired.

Play in our top 4 games?

He needs to be "reprogrammed". While he was clearly the best player on the GT team last year, he played for Paul Johnson, king of the chop block, which even Walleye Burks' officials will call 9 times out of 10.

TFB thinks we hear back end of May.

Can’t believe I am posting this ahead of Joe Fan. Boling won the 100 m state champ with a National HS record. HOWEVER, Owens finished second (Texas commit to Safety). Texags all excited over Boling for some reason, yet ignores Owens who they panned as late evaluated 5 star. Owens speed is remarkable for a big guy. Can’t wait to see him in special teams at the least. What morons.
