2018 Transfer Season

Maybe Anriel Howard will give us a look as we could use some more experience at power forward with Joyner being the only returning letterman at that position.
Mide has the athleticism and length to defend and rebound at the 4 but offensive production could take a slight hit.

Seems like there is more there, but I wish Jordan all the best! I had really hoped that we'd give her a chance to play on the wing and show a really big lineup at times.

Wouldn't surprise me to see either of Sedona and Charlie get a few minutes at the four, although I am not sure that our post positions are that well defined from each other. I think, offensively, any of our four posts can play either spot effectively. Defensively, that role is more defined.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jada play some 4 as well.

I'll miss Jordan too, especially the charges she took. Wonder if she'll be transferring to Virginia because Tina Thompson was Jordan's private coach when Karen Aston recruited Hosey. And it was through this connection that Aston brought Thompson on staff.

Jordan's quotes are a bit ambiguous and can be interpreted in different ways:

"At this time, I think it's important for me to focus on my future and completing my degree."

Maybe she will no longer be playing basketball. Maybe she wants to focus on being a student. Maybe she wants to re-assess her future, or has decided she needs a change in direction.

I do find the timing pretty odd (late) compared to most players who announced their intentions to leave their current programs and possibly transfer elsewhere.

Very good points.

Yes, her comments are difficult to understand. She wants to "finish her degree" but will transfer to "another institution" to do so. I get the impression that she does not intend to resume her basketball career elsewhere as she says she will always be Longhorn. Guess only time will tell. I will miss her enthusiasm and support of her teammates.

I share the same impression as you. I have no first hand knowledge but I believe her first priority will be to get her college degree.

New transfer rule:
https://www.hookem.com/story/new-ncaa-transfer-redshirt-rules-shift-balance-power-toward-athlete/
Beginning Oct. 15, athletes in all sports can transfer to other institutions without informing their coaches first. Under current rules, athletes must ask their coaches for permission to seek a transfer and wait for the school’s permission....Under the new rule, athletes only must tell their school’s compliance director that they wish to transfer — essentially with no questions asked — and must see their names put into the NCAA’s national transfer database. After two business days, opposing coaches are free to contact that athlete. Football, men’s basketball and ice hockey athletes still must sit out one year, per NCAA transfer rules.

While I am in favor of empowering the athletes in what has historically been an unbalanced power dynamic, this could lead to mayhem. NCAA might not be implicitly stating that but they made sure they protected their 2 biggest cash cows. K-State was mentioned in relation to football but they’ve done that to more than 1 WBB player - Leticia Romero immediately comes to mind.

Not surprising, but Natalie Chou has decided to transfer from Baylor:

I recall when she chose Baylor over us, and I stated that I wasn't upset as I just didn't think she'd be any more than a role player on a Top 25 team. Needs to be wide open to get off her shot. I didn't think she had the athleticism that Mulkey typically recruits.

I think she will land at Cal or UCLA.
You were correct, good sir. UCLA is the Florida State of the West Coast when it comes to transfers.

Any news on Anriel Howard? Was expecting news of a transfer to come out by now, wonder if she is reconsidering leaving A&M

I thought she transferred to Miss St quite a while back. I remember reading quite a bit about it on several other forums. Maybe i've slipped a cog.

Not unexpected. Guess she is graduating for sure now.

That will be two Aggie grads facing off in Austin when Texas meets Miss. State Dec. 2.

Follow Jordan on twitter, and I’ve been curious where she would land. Looking like she may be at U of Mizzou based on this tweet/video of Sophie Cunningham:

Wow! That is a surprise. Very odd to see a transfer announcement this time of year.
I wonder if the lateness of this is due to the new transfer rule that starts in October? Mulkey can't tell her "no" to school she's interested in transferring to. I guess one full year of Kim was enough. ;)
