2018 Transfer Season

Blair is in a very uncomfortable position. He has released Howard and Williams so that they may contact/visit other schools, but he states they are welcome to return/remain with A&M. So, it's like these 2 players are holding Blair hostage until they make their decisions.

In the meantime, Blair has to fill unexpected holes with his roster; he didn't even sign but one or two players for the 2018 class. And, he also lost freshman Emer Nichols to transfer.

Howard and Williams will determine whether or not Blair can make one more run before he retires.

I'm kind of wondering if there may be some kind of dissention among the ranks at A&M... maybe friction with Carter? I have no info, of course, just pure curiosity/speculation on my part.

I've always liked Blair, even though he coaches Aggies. This situation with these two is odd - like an open marriage. I'll go date some folks and if it doesn't work out, I'll back to you honey. You okay with that? Okay, off to the bar!

I don't want to post here what I read on TexAgs.com, but you are welcome to go read it there on their women's hoops message board.

Just my opinion, but with those two players deciding to play their senior seasons at A&M, they are a Top 20 team. Without either/both of them (and the loss of Hillsman, and a less than stellar recruiting class), they might be a bubble team for the NCAA tourney.

Thanks... I read their board. WOW! They've got way too much extra going on over there... And here I thought we were bad for the little spats we have on our board. Geeze!

I haven't read the A&M board and have no information, but I've always thought there might be some resentment toward Chennedy Carter being such a ball hog (sounds nasty, but that's the term that comes to mind). I'm not saying she isn't great, but other players may want to take the shot sometimes, too. Now, I'll go read the A&M board. It probably has nothing to do with what I just speculated.

Until Chennedy Carter learns to utilize the strengths of her teammates, put her teammates in scoring position, A&M won't be a conference contender. When you're Carter's teammate, what are you supposed to do when she takes 30 shots a game. Hero ball will get you some wins, but not championships. Give me a team with great chemistry over a talented team.

Are the number of transfers higher this year? A 151 transfers seems like a very high number but maybe I haven't been following post season transfers as closely in past years. We've been fortunate not to have many transfers (knock on wood).

What's up with Oregon?

I don’t think anything is going on at Oregon. None of the players that have transferred have been important parts of the team. You also have to keep in mind that Oregon has been very young the last few years and those young players are now experienced upperclassmen.

So there’s not going to be a lot of playing time for backups. Also, don’t forget that Erin Boley will be eligible to play this year for them. Oregon is without question a Final Four and National Champion contender next year.

Calhoun could provide us with some needed height on the wing; not familiar with her skills/strengths.

Chyna Nixon is an interesting transfer prospect from Ole Miss. For context, Kevin Lynch is the coach of the Philly Belles (Celeste Taylor's AAU team). I find it interesting that both Karen and Tina are following Chyna on Twitter. Maybe @Oakman has seen Chyna play.

I’ve seen Chyna play in high school quite a bit she is long athletic and can get to the rim. Mid range is average, three point range is below average. Good on ball defender. She can score in transition. Needs to put on some weight to be able to be effective in the big12

skilledup over on the Baylor is stating that LSU grad transfer Chloe Jackson has committed to Baylor.

And, that two players are transferring out of Baylor. My guess would be either Natalie Chou, Cara Ursin, or Juicy Landrum.

I can't bear (pun intended) to go over to the BU boards. How do they feel about the possibility of transfers?

Like most fan bases, they don't want to see their players leaving either.

Compared to the last couple of seasons, this year's outgoing transfers from Baylor might be at an all-time low, but that's probably because they only had 8 non-seniors on the roster.

A bit surprised we havent landed a grad transfer or even gone after a more skilled Juco player to fill the guard position. We have a ton of talent on the bench and I am really hoping for big things out of Destiny and Patterson next year but I think a bit of veteran guard play would fit nicely on our squad. As for Baylor landing Chloe Jackson, they just always manage to snag a player or fill a whole so perfectly. I have no idea what their weakness is going to be next season, especially if those freshman play up to their hype. SO many transfers these days though, I'm sure it affects recruiting significantly.

I had the same thought initially, but then someone said to me they'd actually be surprised if anyone else was brought on for next season. Which makes sense when you look at the numbers; we are 7 deep at guard, with five of those returning players. Which is the exact number BU will have after the addition of Jackson. And if a few transfer out of the Bear program, as someone indicated might happen, we will actually be deeper at the guard position.

I wouldn't say "always". They failed to add anyone a year ago after the 2016-17 season concluded, and had to deal with a 10 player roster which eventually dwindled down to 8 healthy players by the time March rolled around.

Mulkey has added transfers over the years who have been some of the better players at Baylor (Bernice Mosby, Destiny Williams, Brooklyn Pope, and Alexis Jones come to mind). But, since Alexis Jones, I can't recall any others until Chloe Jackson.
