2018 Senate (& House)

I just heard on TV, (yes it was Fox, and I'm too lazy to check) but, Tucker Carlson said that for the last several election cycles, every time a race has been contested, the Democrat has won, with the exception of Gore.
This is ridiculous.
If Texas, and California, as huge as they are can get their votes counted on time, there is zero excuse for Florida.
And now I see McSally has conceded. I guess whining and recounting does work.

I dont know how this will play next election as intervening events will probably push the memory of this vote backwards. But, as of today, I dont see how Republicans voters can be at all inspired to go to the polls next time if their politicians are just going to let the Democrats come in after the fact and steal the election.

Or JF, it could continue to motivate Republican voters to mobilize. These ballot recount issues are only issues when elections are very close.

If I were moderating a primary or general debate (which I would do for free) I would put this question to the Rs first.

I honestly can only think of one part of the active government institutions/branches/processes that has any credibility at this point. Its the military, and even it has rotten parts at the top.

The House, Senate, IRS, federal-state-local elections, and federal law enforcement are all corrupt. And yes, so is the White House. Add in the biased "press" and you have a federal disaster on your hands.

Mostly agree with Husker. If there is specific evidence of fraud or funny business (Broward County, Florida), then let's let the courts sort out. However, the idea that the GOP lost the election in general is because of fraud is absurd. Let's focus on doing a better job appealing to the suburbs rather than diverting attention to something that wasn't a big driving force. Martha McSally didn't lose to the freak show in a tutu because of fraud. She lost because of Kelli Ward and Joe Arpaio and because of general brand issues for the GOP.

I agree with Arizona assessment, but the courts have become a political S-Show too. Things just get appealed to a partisan hack.

That's often true, but bear in mind that the Georgia and Florida Supreme Courts are dominated by Republicans and will have a chance to rule on any election contests. If Republicans lose in those states, it's not going to be because of partisan reasons.

It strains credulity to think there was nothing untoward about the fact that the witch at Broward county refused to declare the number of ballots cast .
SH said the GOP just needed to get more votes? He is thinking like a Dem.
Need more votes? " Find" them.
We know the witch manipulates votes in her county. She illegally destroyed ballots in 2016. She was found by court to have processed mail in ballots illegally. etc etc.

The presence of election contests and courts presumes there are people with the will to use them. I don't think Republicans have the will. What I think I see is Democrats who will fight tooth and nail to win (by any means necessary) and Republicans okay with giving it a decent try win or lose.

Even the talking head from CNN that interviewed her live last night seemed incredulous at her responses, or more correctly, her avoidance of responses, to pointed questions. It was actually one of the better interviews I have seen from CNN in more than a decade.

She clearly does not seem to believe she has to show ANY measure of accountability here. And you KNOW it's bad when you cannot even convince the LIBERAL media like CNN.

republicans fix elections by blatant gerrymandering and scrubbing voting lists. The county clerk in my hometown is a republican and has shut down polling places in democratic neighborhoods where people have voted for decades as another nice device.

Down with the Shah!!

Both parties gerrymand. Sheila Jackson Lee says Hi

huis
are you sure the sites did not ask to be taken off as polling places?
Happens more than you might think.

Rick Scott has brought suit. George W. Bush took his case against the same counties to the US Supreme Court. The will is there.

I'm quite confident that isn't what he meant. My guess is that he's suggesting that they attract more voters by broadening their appeal. He is correct. We can't ditch the suburbs and expect to win.

He resisted giving it back to her, but she never got the mic into her hands for him to take it from her. He also didn't push her. He did push her arm down, but it doesn't look like he even did that on purpose. He didn't use his palm, and he wasn't even looking at the woman. He was looking at Trump and "talking with his hands," and it was part of that hand gesturing that pushed her hand down almost surely inadvertently.

Yeah. And calling it "assault" is silly. And the Republicans using loaded phrases like "he put his hands on a woman!" is just the type of double standard they say they are tired of the left employing. If the intern was male, they'd have to stick to the "He wouldn't let the other reporter have their turn" stuff, but since the intern happened to be female, they have wielded the "He used physical force - against a woman!" accusation as expertly as any leftist.

I still don't have any sympathy for Acosta, because he's an unprofessional *******. His job is to question, but he's not supposed to stand up there and argue. And once another reporter is called on, he's supposed to hand over the mic over and shut his mouth. If he thinks more should be said, he's free to go on his network and rip the President as he often does. He's not free to take over the conference and grandstand.

I agree.

Correct. Nobody is "finding" votes and if they are they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This knee-jerk reaction to follow any hair-brained conspiracy theory and attribute that to an election loss "strains credulity".

Either side needs to convince the majority of voters (or 60% for most referendums) to vote in their favor. It's not rocket science.

Of course more votes were needed by the GOP, brother! But finding boxes of votes? Come on!

Boxes...boxes...boxes. To my knowledge, so far every "found box" has not uncovered any completed ballots. We've found office supplies, blank ballots and other items which I'm sure is helpful to someone. At a minimum, it has the conspiracy crowd in a tizzy.

Before someone jumps in "what about Snipe"...incompetence is not cheating. Clearly leadership in Broward County elections supervision is lacking.
