Look like a different team with jhenna in there at the setter position!Horns beat KSU 3-0. With Jhenna getting the start over Ashley, Texas started four freshmen, three true frosh and one redshirt freshman.
In realizing how young this team is......it will be even younger next year with Yaz and Johnson graduating. In looking at the recruiting thread, those players will have to come in ready. The wildcard is what Elliot does at setter. Will jhenna be it and Shook leave? Or Shook stays and tries to improve and get start back? I can’t remember her name but one of next year’s recruits is a setter. Or will Elliot look for a transfer setter?
In all honestly, I've been incredibly impressed by Jhenna Gabriel. Her athleticism (where Shook severely lacked) has made a HUGE difference, her sets are more dynamic, and the rest of the team has responded well, I mean they're still hitting over .400 I believe since the switch. She reminds me of Chloe Collins a bit with her size and speed. In realizing how young this team is......it will be even younger next year with Yaz and Johnson graduating. Athleticism is certainly one variable, but I also think Ashley is weak in analytical skills and decision making. A setter is the QB and has to know where to go with the ball and the position of the ball to take advantage of your own players strengths and the opponents weaknesses. Jhenna just gets it, like a Colt McCoy. She just has that inate ability to quickly assess the situation and get the ball to the best place. In all honestly, I've been incredibly impressed by Jhenna Gabriel. So that means that Saturday’s senior day will not be Bedart-Ghani’s and Johnson’s last appearance at home. Both players will still be recognized during a postgame ceremony with their family and teammates.
????Any word on Katarina Luketec leaving the team? I don’t see her on the bench at the WVU game??
The No. 5 Longhorns (22-4) will face No. 18 Michigan (24-9) at 3 p.m. CST on Friday in an ESPNU-televised match played at BYU’s George Albert Smith Fieldhouse. The host Cougars, who are ranked fourth and 29-1 this season, and No. 16 Florida (26-6) will battle in the other regional semifinal match.
The winners of those two matches will decide who advances to the Final Four at 5 p.m. CST on Saturday. This year’s Final Four will be held in Minneapolis.
