2018 Recruiting - Football

To be fair Charlie was only the narrator, not the fiddler
Looks like he is playing to me.

I suppose the logic of this rule makes sense to someone. If you sign a kid and he does not qualify that counter is gone for this year. Someone else can not be signed in his place. The good news is we have had a few drifters and EE can be put on as last years counters. From what I have read I thought that rule had been changed but it has not.

Herman: "We'll probably have at least 2/3, probably 3/4 of our class signed on signing day."
He means the early date here

"I think this was one of the unintended consequences. You've got to suck it up and do it. There's no complaints. It is difficult for head coaches. I'm not sure we all realized the percentage of kids that would sign on the early signing day."

Herman's travel this week alone
-Sun: Los Angeles, CA
-Mon: Salt Lake City, UT > Austin, TX
-Tues: Prac > Louisville, KY > Bradenton, FL
Wed: Bradenton, FL > Houston, TX > Austin
Thrus: Prac > Shreveport, LA > Dallas, TX
Fri: Practice #HookEm

The picture above is Hermans first, partial recruiting class; and its going to be the building block on which everyone will look back at by the time those guys have been here 3-4 years and say thats what started the run at trophies. Hook em Horns.

Im signing off and its been fun.

From TFB on Waddle --

Jaylen Waddle: As many of you may know by now, TX WR, Jaylen Waddle has announced he will not sign on the 20th. Instead he will wait till February to sign.

But where are things with Texas and Waddle?

Last weekend, Waddle used his final official visit on a trip to Texas A&M. But here’s a note of interest. Last Wednesday, Texas’ HC Tom Herman did a in-home visit with Waddle. Apparently Waddle told Texas that he would officially visit UT that weekend. And at the last minute let them know that he had changed his mind.

I’m told that Waddle continues to be unhappy with the way the slot WR recruiting was handled when Waddle was a silent commit to Texas.

It would appear this one is going to go TAMU’s way. However, I still can’t shake the fact that Waddle always wanted to go to Texas. If TAMU was a sure thing, why not sign in December? Everything seems to make sense. TAMU is close to home. Fisher was a coach who recruited him early on. I’m even told that his close friend, Marvin Wilson, is encouraging him to go to TAMU. So again, why not sign in December?

Texas will continue to work on this through January in hopes of getting him back on campus one more time. – (Super K)

Part of an EJ Holland clip on Carthage RB Keaontay Ingram --
— As soon as he arrives on campus, Ingram will be the most complete back on the Texas roster and will have a chance to start from Day 1. He is a great fit for this offense and as mentioned, he is ahead of the curve in pass protection. If the offensive line shows signs of improvement, Ingram could be in store for a big freshman season. The four-star prospect is an every down back and isn’t too shabby coming out of the backfield in the passing game.
Mike Roach clip on Ingram --
-- "I spoke to Keaontay after his game, and he said that while winning a second straight state championship is foremost in his mind, he’s leaning towards signing early. Ingram mentioned he’s hearing from a ton of schools, but he’s looking towards shutting things down. He was asked specifically about A&M and said that he hasn’t really heard from them since the new staff took over."
