2018 Recruiting - Football

I dont know if that is true or not. Only coming from one Utah site. None of the Texas sites. So, we will see.

this would be interesting. everyone knows this about Tanner McKee, but one site sneaks it out at a commitment? that's weird.

OK, here we go -- Chip confirms (is this enough confirmation?)
When those guys come back, they usually take a RS year to regain the weight
So, if true, its effectively more like 2021 for him
That's quite a letdown. He might be a pretty salty 21 year old by the time he is starting, but no help for these next two seasons.
I consulted the Magic-8 Ball about this -- it said "Cloudy to more JUCOs"

Well, if all goes to plan, if there is a plan, and TH continues to recruit and develop good/great talent, by 2021, Angilau will be part of the team that is hopefully performing on a much higher level and competing for championships, not merely showing up for post game juice boxes and snacks....the O has to improve to get where we hope to be though.

3 more years of bad football feels like eternity

It does. After sitting through particularly the last couple of Akers years at HC, the McWilliams' (can't find our own butts with both hands in a rainstorm) years, most of Mackovic's tenure, Mack's last 4, the truly awful 3 season with CS, I have noticed a sort of pattern in that, we go from very good/great to 7-9 years of "meh" or worse with a few "what the bloody hell is this crap?" type seasons. Since the 13-1 2009 NC appearance season, the program has been mostly down (3 mediocre winning seasons, 4 losing seasons, 1 currently at breakeven). Someone check my math on that. If the pattern holds, an up tick should be coming soon. May take a couple of more years, there are no guarantees, and we will see how the talent TH has recruited can develop. So, hopefully this pseudo trend will begin in 2018 & 2019, with the team being much improved in terms of W-L record, 2020 being more like "hey! look at this!", and in 2021/2022 we plant the flag (in Baker Mayfield's ***, but that's a different story). Might happen, might not.

A poster on another site who lives in Salt Lake City and claims to know the family, posted that Junior Angilau has not yet decided whether he’ll do his mission or not. He said that Angilau has reached out to some other Mormon athletes, some that have done a mission and some that haven’t, to get more information on his decision.

Most ESPN 300 commits after No. 200 Angilau pledged to Texas

Longhorns 17
tOSU 14
Miami 13
Penn St 10
Bama and Georgia 9
Auburn and Oregon 8
ou sucks, NotreDame, Clemson and LSU 7

I think all of our commits are on this list but Hobbs and Dicker the Kicker

We offered RB Craig (Sqwirl) Williams (listed at 5'10,175 but probably 5'9,170)
Current Baylor commit. He may be the fastest in-state player this class.
We brought in in for an UOV already, late in hs high school season. Now we will try and get him here for an OV. IT says we are looking at him for the slot (and he certainly looks the part even though most of his highlights are RB). If so then it may mean bad news on Rondale Moore OVs to Purdue this weekend. We will see. This team def needs more speed
Film is worth a look

Craig Williams told us he is not interested in playing slot WR
We are still offering him as a RB
He probably will not commit until NSD

.....Probably the two most athletic remaining JUCO OLs (chance to be LTs) are Levon Livingston and Jahmir Johnson. Johnson won't enroll in a school until June so his visit was moved to January. The knock on Livingston is that he needs to add weight. Losing the Traore battle to LSU hurt.

Sounds like JUCO OL Levon Livingston of Navarro College will be visiting this weekend.

DE Jarrett Jackson (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) will be a Dec signee. He is supposed to OV Louisville next weekend, then decide. We have an in-home on Friday.

Saban just did his in-home with Vernon Jackson yesterday and made a push for him to sign early. We are supposed to still be after him hard as well. I like him but battling the devil is never easy.
