2018 Recruiting - Football

This kid brings bonus speed, size and hands. Add it to the even faster shifty little guy and the prototype 6'1" 4.6 guy and the wide receiver looks pretty good on paper. With the great coaching in place now I expect to see a lotta touchdowns over the next 5 years.

That chart laid out that way is very helpful. It also frightens me to see how thin we are on the OL. We win or lose based on the strength of our OL and DL play. I am old school in my belief about that. We have to get more OL in and fast. I have heard it is a down year for OL in the state of Texas. While I don't want mediocre players filling scholarships up, we have to has someone for some depth.

I don't remember a year we took less than 4 OL.

Our Guard and Center recruiting will have been minimal for 3 straight years if we don't add some real beef inside.
2016
Shackelford is our 1 Center
Hudson our 1 OG

2017
None for either in Coach Herman's first cycle.

2018
None so far
0 offers to Centers
4 offers to OG. 2 from Texas are committed to aTm and LSU. 2 from Georgia.

CB Anthony Cook (Houston Lamar) will visit Texas on Friday
Considered an tOSU lean

The other CB from Lamar D’Shawn Jamison is visiting Texas today

-----------------
We also have 2019 CB Erick Young (Richmond Bush) visiting this week

4-star WR Tommy Bush (Schertz) made an OUV yesterday
We are supposed to be taking 4 WRs and have 3 now committed (they other two possibles are Jaylen Waddle or Terrace Marshall Jr)
The last 4 CBs for him have all been Texas, including one today and 2 yesterday
His mom went to UT

Scout on Antwine

Scout.com evaluation: Antwine has the body and strength to take over games. That's exactly what he did as a junior when he wracked up close to 90 tackles for the State Championship team. He was named the Oklahoma High School Defensive Mid-Season Player of the Year for his play. Antwine is what you term as a classic space eater but can get after the passes. That's evident by his 18 tackles for a loss. The Rebels are graduating another fine group on the defensive line this season so it's imperative that they find as many Antwine's as they can get.

WR Jaylen Waddle made it to Austin today (with his "trainer")
+ Herman and Locke

The trainer here is Ro Simon. He is based in Houston with Fast 7v7.
Herman has made an attempt to make these guys feel welcome. Clearly he thinks this could pay dividends for the program down the line.

But wait, that's not all
His high school teammate 5-star 2019 OL Kardell Thomas (also an LSU commit, of course) will be with him. This will be Thomas' 3rd trip to Austin this year. He is 6'4,320 and ranked as the #1 OG in the country and #2 overall in Louisiana for 2019 per the 247 Composite.
