2018 Recruiting - Football

"– Anthony Cook: With a majority of the best players in the Houston area trending towards Texas, people keep asking questions about Anthony Cook. Texas looks to be running #2 in that battle right now behind Ohio State, Clemson is the 3rd team involved here.

Cook wasn’t at Texas’ Heat Wave event earlier this summer, and he won’t be at Texas’ other big recruiting event on July 21st because he will be at Clemson’s “Friday Night Lights” Event. Though I was told by one of Cook’s coaches that he plans to visit Texas the following weekend, and that would be a huge visit for Texas as they haven’t gotten Cook on campus this summer.

Ohio State still holds the lead here, with Texas running 2nd, and Clemson close behind. If Texas lands Cooks teammates in Al’Vonte Woodard and D’Shawn Jamison like I expect them to, that won’t hurt their chances with Cook but it will come down to their play on the field in 2017 in terms of having a shot to land the 5-star. Don’t count Clemson out either, between their National Title, new state of the art football facilities, and putting DB’s into the NFL lately. I wouldn’t overlook the Tigers. – (Andrew)

Woodard/Jamison: The other part of the Hou. Lamar trio is WR Al’Vonte Woodard and DB D’Shawn Jamison, and unlike Anthony Cook, Texas is in a prime spot to land both of those guys as of today.

Woodard has a commitment date set for the 15th and is down to Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Ohio State. But it would a big surprise if Texas wasn’t the pick next week. Jamison has basically been down to Texas and TCU for awhile now, and he plans to commit in August but doesn’t have a date set just yet.

I was told that both players are set to be in Austin on July 21st for Texas’ recruiting event....."

Hamm (aggy) says 4-star DT Keondre Coburn will visit us for the July 21 jamboree and could verbally commit sometime in August.

My son is twenty years old and his grandparents were born before Germany attacked Poland. I had kids late but I always enjoy bringing up the year Germany attacked Poland reference!

I take the 1939 NC and it correlation to the start of WWII to mean that if aggy ever wins another NC, the world is screwed...

Texas S commit DeMarvion Overshown is the new #1 player in TX on 247.

I'm really hoping we close on
Anthony Cook
Terrance Marshall (talent plus suck it Orgeron!)
Brennan Eagles
Keondre Coburn
Tanner McKee
Malcolm Epps
Dominick Wood-Anderson
Rafiti Ghirmai
Sione Angilau (Utah OL)

But we're going to be thin on beef. 3 OTs (if the two above commit) and 1 DT/DE (if the 1 above commits). That's going to be tough to succeed with, regardless of what points the websites give us.

If we can close on all of them then that would be Jackpot!

I think Coburn is not only a beast, he looks like he's playing against 8th graders in his highlights, but a must have considering our depth at DT.
