2018 Recruiting - Football

As Thamel wrote, the result of the camp being shut down has left Mumme not the least bit happy with Orgeron and those at LSU who might have prevented under-the-radar prospects in need of a look from college programs from getting one.

The reality of the camp scheduled for Thursday is that the perception of Texas taking part in a camp in Louisiana has obscured the reality. LSU likely won’t lose any recruits it covets. And its just as unlikely Texas will sign a five-star player from the camp. The real value will be for prospects who aren’t elite, as they’ll show up to seen by the Texas coaches but in reality have a better chance to get noticed by the coaches at Houston, Belhaven or Cornell. “If you are the head coach at LSU, you should want the other kids in your state to have an opportunity,” Mumme said. “Ed needs to think about those kids that aren’t going to get a scholarship to LSU. I’ve been in the SEC as the coach of the (flagship) university of the state. You have show respect to those other kids as well."

Eagles and Woodard will announce within 2 days of each other.
IT thinks Eagles is down to Texas and Clemson
He has 14 CBs, all to Texas

Looks like the guys are having fun this recruiting weekend! Throw the head coach in the pool! Good times :yippee:

Roach on the surprise visitors this weekend --

"The headliner among this group was Arizona Western College tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson. The elite junior college tight end tripped to Austin for an official visit, and he looked to be enjoying himself when spotted on campus. Wood-Anderson is a massive target due to the tight end shortage Texas is facing, and many pundits have him tagged as an NFL prospect once he reaches campus....."

Holland says to -- Watch for USC to come after Texas QB commit Cameron Rising as USC just lost a QB commit. They have already been in contact. Rising said he is solid to UT but hasn’t ruled out making visits.

JUCO TE Dominick Wood-Anderson has long been considered a lock to Oregon. He had 13 CBs, and all were to Oregon.
Until tonight.
His first non-Oregon CB came from an Ohio State guru -- to Texas.

Big Attendees/No Shows: Both Texas and TAMU held events this weekend. Both had some surprise visitors and unexpected no-shows. The first big one for Texas was Hou. Heights (TX) CB Jalen Green. I had heard from Green’s HS HC Friday evening that Green wasn’t going to be at Texas or TAMU over the weekend due to their 7v7 tournament. Something obviously changed as Green showed up at Texas on Saturday, but then wasn’t at TAMU on Sunday.

The same thing happened with Hou. Lamar (TX) CB D’Shawn Jamison and WR Al’vonte Woodard. Both were at Texas on Saturday and then were with at their 7v7 teams on Sunday. They didn’t make it to TAMU. CB Anthony Cook was with his 7v7 team both days and didn’t visit either Texas or TAMU.

Jaylen Waddle wasn’t able to make the trip to Texas on Saturday. He did make it TAMU on Sunday.

Another guy who was a maybe to visit Texas was Arl Lamar (TX) DL Bobby Brown. He decided to stick with his 7v7 team on Saturday, and visited TAMU on Sunday. – (Andrew)

Graphics team is tearing it up. Coach H wisely promoting the "H-Town to ATX" angle. This is a man with a strategy

Breaking news, in the last hour, CBs trending to the good guys (from 33% to 80% so far) for the fastest man in the land ... :bounce2:

This kid's highlights are amazing. He's damn fast, but he can also make cuts on a dime and has great vision. He's like Wes Welker with speed (yep I said it). Also would fill the void if Watkins decommits.

Looking at this on a broader scope, Texas is making more waves across the nation than I can remember in previous years. So much OOS interest, not too mention kids with tape as impressive as our recruits in the early to mid-2000s.

Ehlinger knows what's up, take a recruit on Lake Austin on a great day and let em see all the honeys. Seems to be working just a little.

Up to 82% from 33% since 6 pm

I see you post CB...what the !$@& does that mean?
MH, the recruiting sites predict where a kid commits, see link in my post above post. At 6 tonight, it was 33%, each to TX, Louisville, Ohio State. This kid was originally Ohio State's number one target for slot receiver, until now
