Peyton's 3pt shooting percentage is average. Considering that she is the focus of the defense and that she will take the shot when time is running out, it's pretty decent.
Got to love the way she plays--she can take over a game but also works at getting her teammates involved.
IMO Little is going to be a very special player for the University of Texas; her many honors are well-deserved and I suspect she's going to pile up a lot more next season.
Would love to see a 2012 class consisting of Peyton and Alexis!
Re Jefferson, I don't think anyone besides UConn was really in the running for her after she took a couple of trips there, paying her own way. Jones, from what I have read, would prefer to stay close to home, which is why Tenn is also a player. Wherever she goes, Texas, BU, A&M, Tenn, even UConn, she will be playing with an outstanding PG.
Missed Jordan Jones as I was looking specifically for Peyton. Nice. Looks like Texas is loaded with good guards in 2012 with seven ranked in the top 37.
Reading A&M and UConn boards, now that Peyton has jumped into the top 30, some fans now think she would be a good pickup. Amazing what a little jump in rankings influences how fans view a player. Now, Texas fans have always thought highly of her.
We have plenty of guards.C.Jennings is a guard! We need post and centers and 1 more wing player. This is the reason P.Little went to AM.We have too many guards.
Destiny Brown has committed to Baylor. Not sure if she ended up attending our camp as scheduled, and if she and Empress were competing for the same scholarship.
From what I read on Hoopgurlz.com, it was implied that she wanted to commit to Baylor right after their camp (which was prior to ours), so perhaps she already had her decision made.
As most of us would agree, it sure would be great if we are in the running for another post player to step in once Ashley Gayle is gone after this coming season. Not sure where things stand with Imani Stafford of California or Rachel Hollilvay of Mississippi, but there certainly don't appear to be any in-state post player who we are targetting.
5'11 Nicole Kornet of the Metroplex area is somone who had mentioned receving interest from Texas, but not sure if that interest ended when we had secured Peyton Little's commitment.
At this point I would assume we're still targeting Jones and Stafford for 2012 (not sure about Hollivay - haven't really heard much about her in respect to the Horns), but I can't think of any other names still uncommitted that we might be interested in. There are 7 in-state guards in the Hoopgurlz top 50 for 2012 but not a single post. I think the highest ranked post is Higgens out of El Paso at #62, so not much of an opportunity to focus on that position. At least we have Cokie for three more years, and after AG graduates we'll still have Hartung and Enemkpali, with Terry arriving in 2013. Cokie and Terry should make for a pretty imposing tandem during Reed's senior season.
no surprise that Destiny Brown committed to Baylor after she failed to show up at the Texas camp since those were her two finalists. Can't think of another post besides Stafford where interest appears to be running both ways.
I think Babhorn had already posted those links, or at least one, in another thread. But I don't mind reading them again! Empress has been getting quite a lot of attention, and good notices recently; I wouldn't be surprised to see her ranking improve considerably the next time the lists are updated.
