2012 Presidential Debate #2 (Town Hall)

Of the four debate moderators (3 presidential and 1 vice presidential), the one I was initially most concerned about was Candy Crowley, who will be moderating the debate tomorrow night at Hofsta University in New York. I am also concerned about Bob Schieffer in the last debate, as it is my sense that both of these reporters have demonstrated a clear bias in favor of Barack Obama through their reporting over the last four years. Of course that does not mean that they are incapable of conducting themselves in a fair and objective manner. But it does raise concerns.
Well, it appears that with regards to Candy Crowley, both the Obama and Romney campaigns have registered concerns about comments that she has made that suggest that she intends to take on a much more central and intrusive role than the Commission on Presidential Debates has intended for this town hall format debate, which is supposed to be driven by questions from an audience of likely voters selected by the Gallup polling organization.

This isn't good at all. The moderators of these debates should try to stay out of the limelight to the largest extent possible, leaving the candidates to engage each other, and in this case the audience with regards to their questions. But of course my biggest concern is who Candy Crowley may favor and provide benefit to if she takes on this kind of unwantedly aggressive role, which I cannot imagine being anyone other than Barack Obama.

Maybe she'll give Obama more time again. He loves to hear himself talk, and without the telepropmpter, Romney enjoys hearing Obama go on aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnd on about nothing.

Did Obama attend any of her children's weddings or did she have tea and crumpets with Biden at any point?

Here is a good article about how Obama can do well at the debate tonight. It talks about how he can connect with the people, which in truth he is not as good at as the mythical legend of Barack Obama says that he is. It also talks about his need to sell himself, complete with an enthusiastic, prosperous vision of the future that the American people will believe in.
Of course, this advice is completely at odds with that provided by his hardcore supporters, who want him to be aggressive and on the attack, perhaps even channeling Joe Biden from last week's vice presidential debate. However, Obama has already tried to destroy Mitt Romney, but that strategy just did not work, and it is too late to make it work. The last debate ended any hopes for that strategy once and for all.

So, if Obama wants to do well tonight, he needs to present a positive and convincing argument for himself and his own agenda. He needs to sell some real hope and change that Americans will embrace and believe in. It is a tall order, but that is what he needs to do.

I hope there are no silly questions tonight? I don't care what kind of music or movies, either candidate likes. We have enough real issues to talk about.

Mitt needs to be ready for the social issue questions.

The price of gas was $1.86 in 2008 because the economy was about to collapse??? Well I guess at $3.50 a gallon now, the economy must be doing great.

Mittens has a nasty scowl as taxes are being discussed. Obama is pushing him into the corner, and beating the tar out of that position.

I thought Obama did a good job answering that guys question. I also thought Romney did good job hammering Obama's failure to improve the economy, number one issue right now.

Obama said that he reduced illegal immigration. He most certainly has. Unfortunately it is because our economy is so ******, less people want to come here.

What is this garbage about criticizing someone for investing in foreign companies? Anyone who doesn't do that must have the world's worst financial adviser. How many mutual funds have a portion of foreign investments? Has to be a ton.
