2008 Australian Open Tennis Championships

About Fkn time for a break. Come on Ferrer Djokovic is getting tired and if David can pull this set off, we will be in for a long match.

am I the only one wondering why the **** Ferro wasn't running Novak back and forth?

And just like that he gives it right back up. This dude is a liability on serve. Typical Spaniard...great returner and ****** server. Except for Rafa of course!

Ferrer must not be the brightest tool in the shed b/c every time he moves Novak around lately he wins the point. Move him around the court ala Agassi or say goodnight.

and there's the match!

on the 5th match point, djokovic hits a backhand that clips the back line. ferrer had a few points in there that he could have broken the game, and taken it to tiebreak.

****. Ferro decides to wait into the end of the 3rd set to start playing! too little too late. Djokovic 6-0, 6-3, 7-5

Man, he had that 3rd set. It would have changed everything. Djokovic didn't have much left in the tank. He better hope he completely recovers because Roger is going to work is *** all over the damn court.

OK, so Blake and Roger come on in exactly two hours. I guess I'll kill some TiVo until then. Anyone else staying up for it?

i'll be up. looking for something to do until 230. maybe booty call? haha. maybe something awesome is on amc, like red dawn.

Actually, I think I'll watch Fed/Blake in the other room. Probably provide commentary through the iPhone ...

I'll be up. Let's just hope that match is the complete opposite of that last snoozefest. Blake has the game to hurt Roger if he goes for his shots at the right time and hits. Should be fun.

Blake plays tough the whole set, and then chokes at the very end, getting broken to lose the 1st set 7-5. He really needed that set.

Just gets broken to open up the 2nd. So much for these good matchups on paper turning into good matches. I sure hope Djokovic can bring more to the table against Roger. He had several chances to win each set at the US Open last year and choked too.

James breaks back just like in the 1st set. He just needs to hold serve. If he gets chances on Federer's serve, then go for them. But it won't matter if he doesn't hold. Blake is still in this.

James is fighting, that much is for sure. On serve early in a tiebreak.

federer wins the tiebreak at 5. Believe it or not, I actually still think he is on this. If he just focuses on his serve, he is in this. Get it to a tiebreak and anything can happen. He is playing very well. He just needs to play the big points smarter.

as i was telling my friend so far.... blake is playing well. he doesn't look tired. fed seems to be getting frustrated a lot. just not going all blakes way. could easily be a set apiece. i think blake will go to his normal "blast the **** outta the ball" in the 3rd set and end up losing 6-4 or so with some nice winners but too many unforced errors. very good showing imo, though. prolly good enough to beat anyone else right now, just not federer tonight.

here's to a good 3rd set.

What I don't get is why do are two top american men have no fkn backhands? Jesus if they want to beat Roger or Rafa, you have to have a great forehand and backhand. I miss watching Andre. He always gave Roger fits with his return and groundstrokes.

Federer wins 7-5, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Blake hung in there as long as he could, but he made too many errors. Djokovic and Fed could be good. We'll see.

I sure hope Novak can give him a good match. It's pretty sad when Roger is not playing as well as he has and a qualifier can rise up and take him to 5 and put him on the ropes and the top guys can't. Novak has every weapon needed to win, it's a matter of his mental weapon that's needed.
