#14 Okla State--We Win the Series 2-1

Top of the 9th.

Boehm will face:

Crull...............0.239
Ehrhard..........0.333
Benge............0.324
Shubert..........0.345

Mental toughness by Max Grubbs there. We should have kept him out there one more inning.

So for games 2 and 3, we have the following unused relievers pitching at least reasonably well recently:

DuPlantier (other than Boehm, he's our best guy for 1-2 innings and closing this year)
O'Hara (reliable, nothing too fast or fancy, an Ace W protege on the mound)--may need to go 3+ innings
Tumis (very, very high ceiling, has the occasional really bad inning though)--may need to go 3+ innings
Shaw (has been crapping all over the mound, until his last outing--where he pitched a really good, high leverage inning)

Then we also have:

Hudson Hamilton (wicked "stuff", but tends to leave meat hanging in the middle of the zone at times, and batters have punished him for it)
Tole (decent WHIP, some bad memories ala DuP)
Hurley (any given game we'll either get the good Hurley or the bad Hurley, and we'll know almost right away).

In game 3, Boehm might be ok to go an inning or 2, if necessary, as would Lummus (who had an uncharacteristic crappy game tonight; his command/control was just off tonight; he's usually pretty good)

I could never generate too much animosity against the Pokes. They're just another team to me, and they're often overachievers who make for a worthy opponent.

Plus, they fricking hate OU.

Chop,

I agree with you since Gary Ward is gone. He made it damn near impossible to like his team. Dedeaux (sp), Frazier, Bertman (sp), Brock were adversaries, but Ward was just an *******.

I purposely left Chandler off the list because he was so pathetically in and ruined so much talent (start the endless list with Randy Pryor & Rick Luecken), not to mention he couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag (see his million dollar infield that lost to Gus SEVEN times in one year)

That doesn't give me a ton of confidence, need the starters to go as long as possible. Ace needs to go 7 full innings with the lead in order for us to have enough relievers for Sunday.

I think O'Hara and Tumis have to show up and go 3 innings each, maybe 4 depending on what the starters do.

I think Boehm can close an inning today and or tomorrow, close game in the 9th (a 1 one lead)? Bring in Boehm.

Kudos to Coach Pierce last night for going with his best reliever Boehm when he was behind 5-4. He trusted his team to come back and get the win and they did.

I would give kudos to Pierce had he just read Hornfans earlier in the year and made the appropriate changes based off our FREE professional input. Alas, 4/5ths into the season makes him a little slow. :cow:

Great win!

Note to self, don't park in the garage when the state track meet is going on. The garage was full and I had to park almost on the top. At the end of the game I sat in my spot 20 minutes before the car behind me finally was able to move.

Funny note. Last week my wife asked me what kind of hit would be considered a piss-missile. I tried to explain it but I'm not sure it got through to her. When Gasparino hit that line drive home run to left, I looked at her and said, "Now that was a piss missile.

Gasparino’s power for hitting the super-far or super-fast homer approaches (and maybe even exceeds) that of Galvan.

Brown and Kennedy in the lineup with Brown ahead of Schuessler. Not a fan, hopefully Brown has a big game.
