SEC Tournament

She came in the first half and really dominated the boards with 8 before she went out in the 2d. She had more boards than anyone and only played in the first half to get those. That was a big factor in keeping Morrow out that first half for sure.

She played 19 minutes. Liked her off the ball play she had with the rebounds and defense she played.
But her turnovers and effort or lack of effort chasing down the loose ball before she was taken out may have negated all of that.
Curious to see how many minutes she gets the rest of the way.

Great team win! Everyone contributed in some way. A Top 4 seed is assured.

If you had told me before the game that Shay would score zero points and Rori would only have 1 assist the entire game, I'd assume a loss was inevitable. Glad they made their presence felt in other ways as we need their leadership on the court going forward.

God forbid she or her player has anything good to say about the other team. I believe Vic started his presser complimenting LSU for being such a good and well-coached team.

The thing that our resident, widely-ignored idiot cannot get through his/her/it's head is that even if this team is offensively flawed or limited (we aren't, but play along), our defense almost always forces the other team to be even more offensively flawed.

And that's why his/her/it's boring and repetitive negativity gets the ignore button treatment from so many thoughtful posters.

Poor Kim. She’s unable to accept the fact that she’s not the number 1 focus of women’s basketball. Her massive ego is eating her alive. There’s always the opportunity for the upcoming tournament for her to reclaim that top spot. I pray not!!
Will Rogers never met Kim Mulkey!

The more disappointing thing to me wasn't the poor shooting, but the lack of effort. In a game like this how can a player not give max effort? I would have pulled Carlton quicker than Vic did. And Oldacre's lackadaisical effort to get a loose bad was frustrating too. Carlton, 4 turnovers in 19 min. The main reason Texas couldn't build a lead in the 1st half. If Jak is in foul trouble a 4G lineup would be better. At least Lee gives 100% effort. A 4G lineup may be better anyway, but it seems like Lee has lost her touch.

And I sure hope I'm wrong, but Texas and SC are basically 50-50 on a neutral court so that makes Texas at less than 50% for this one.

Not trying to sound korrupted or anything, but both USCs, and UCLA, and maybe one or two other schools will present a 50/50 proposition for winning against us. There are 4 to 6 legitimate frontrunners for the natty. I'm very proud of our team and coaches that we are one of them.

That Kentucky reporter getting to ask the first question in both pressers and it's about the Kentucky head coach and nothing to do with Texas and LSU was just plain annoying and inappropriate.

I am powerless to control it but man it bothers me when some here speak of the lack of desire or effort of Justice Carlton or any of our team. I think we don't have to speak negatively about our team. We have a great Coach that we trust to make those decisions. When my favorite player makes 4 straight turnovers I don't question her effort or desire cause this is My Team...all the time. Remember players and family of players and recruits read what we write here.
Enough of this...Lets win this Championship :bevo:

Obviously trying to solicit compliments, perhaps to assist in recruiting.

Love them or hate them, our girls find a way to win. Often, it’s not pretty. Sometimes… most times it’s from balanced shooting among 7-8 players, with at least 3 getting to double digits. Sometimes it’s with freshmen stepping up when a “star” is struggling. Sometimes it’s free throws and sometimes it three throws :smokin: Sometimes it’s the bigger girl on the court and sometimes it’s the smallest. Sometimes it’s by 30 and more often it’s by three. Every time , it’s defense and toughness.

All it takes to win is to get at least one more point than the other team. We’ve done that 32 f-ing times and I am here for 33!!!!

Let’s go Horns! Whatever it takes. Whatever you got. Get. It. Done.

We love you!!!!!

If y’all didn’t see Vic’s interview with the SEC studio panel after the game last night, it’s being rerun again at 11:00am again I think. It’s about 15 minutes in. (SEC Now show)

Vic got emotional talking about his team and when he talks about “I know I’m not their world, but they’re my world” the allergies started kicking in for the panel members.

I may be in the minority, but I thought Justice had a good game last night. Justice only played 20 minutes and led the team in rebounding (8). She also had one steal (the same number of steals as Madison and Rori). Yes, she had a mental lapse on the turnover(s) but I would attribute that to a lack of experience and playing time, not a lack of effort.

Other than Sarah Graves and Jordana Codio, Justice has played the least amount of minutes on our roster (avg. 11 minutes).

I really hope Justice sticks around because she could play a big part in our success next season. I'm optimistic about her future.

Exactly!
They definitely do not respect their opponents. One excuse after another. It’s not what Texas did, it’s what we didn’t do. Uh no $hit Sherlock. We had 3 players out. They are older and bigger inside. Yada yada yada. Enough already. Bottom line is We Win You Lose. Go back to the swamp and conjure up a spell or two before we meet up again.
Thankful we have Vic and his coaching staff here at Texas.
Respect all but fear none!
Horns Up!

I thought she gave us some really good minutes also, but I did not understand what seemed to be a lackadaisical effort going after the loose ball. I'm wondering if maybe she's still a bit tentative with that knee.

I agree, it was odd that she did not respond more quickly. Justice must have thought the ball was going out of bounds (on LSU) and/or the LSU player wasn't going to recovery the loose ball.

Every time someone critiques, you post this same kind of comment. It's like you want to sensor anything that is not a glowing comment. Unfortunately, life is not full of glowing comments and in my opinion, kids do not need to be over-shielded in order to prepare for life. Personally, it's making me rethink my own recent attitude and retorts regarding certain posters. Even though there are numerous comments on this board I do not appreciate nor agree with, going forward, I will refrain from criticizing anyone for their right to make them, including you.

Yeah, I had to stop the Mulkey presser about 1/3 of the way in. Sick of that attitude.

You know, wbb on hornsfan.com used to be bookmarked in my daily list of 25+ tabs I opened each morning with my cup of coffee. But the name calling and the animosity over perceived slights to players we're not even related to made me switch my daily bookmark to softball. Maybe because our fanbase is smaller in softball or maybe it's 9 players playing vs 5 so we dilute our anger or obsession over 9 players rather than 5.

I'm guilty of slighting players or expressing my unhappiness about their play. But, I won't attack someone for attacking me about my negative viewpoints (that's reserved for VolleyTalk! Ha-ha)

ESPN's analytics for this game aren't great, whereas when SC played at Texas, they were 50-50. Does anyone remember the analytics from the game played at SC? In other words, are these new ones based on some different criteria or just because of it being essentially a home game for SC?

Very correct.

I just usually have a problem when people assume they know what’s going on in a players head, their motivation, how they’re feeling etc. unless the player has actually voiced it. They work too hard to be where they are to be summed up by someone who knows nothing of what’s really going on, but can make a bold negative statement that’s really just an assumption based on their own frustration or bias.

I personally always keep in mind that what I say here can be read by family & friends or even the players and recruits. If you’re going to go hard at a player, make sure you’d do it in front of them or their parents and not behind an anonymous keyboard. I’m just saying that’s the standard I try to hold myself to. Y’all have to be your own conscience.

Vic's weekly media availability... some good stuff with him speaking about the program's history and his relationship with Conradt, Plonsky, and Hairston.

"The Pride & the Winning Tradition of the University of Texas shall NOT be entrusted to the weak or the timid."

"Praise the Lord & Hook 'Em Horns."

Btw, Vic said that he consulted with Rori, Madison and Shay about skipping shoot around this morning and they said no way, we’re having it.
Just have Arch hook the team up with some RedBull and we’ll be good to go.
Hold on a second. There would be a huge protest saying Texas used performance enhancers to have won the SEC Championship in their first season and would give the trophy to SC.
Guess we’ll just go ahead and beat them straight up!

I completed the pregame ritual of playing the Longhorn Band Pregame Entrance at DKR for the 2016 Notre Dame game (we won) very loud while marching thru the house. That's right, I'm a HornsFan. I'm feeling some good feels, let's get this.
