Texas @ Auburn 01/16/2025

This could be an interesting game... You know Johnnie Harris and especially DeYona Gaston will be highly motivated. Hope we are also.

Ive watched several Auburn games this season. Gaston has been good. Real good. She doesnt seem to have the blown layup or blown shot at the rim syndrome she had here.
Maybe she will get it back for this game.

Im not overly worried about the rest of the Auburn team.
If we can make some shots our defense should carry the day.

Granted I haven’t watched many Auburn games this season but every time I do it seems Gaston has been in early foul trouble. It’s still strange to see her in a different uniform

Actually, it seems like quite a few folks that leave...Gaston, Faye, Lattimore, Prince...have done quite well since. Sometimes make me wonder what's up with that.
To be fair it took Prince, Lattimore, and Faye three schools to arrive at a place of doing well. It's about finding the right fit, just like Oldacre, Gonzalez, Lambert, and Jones have done well transferring in to play at Texas. In fact, Gaston and Faye did well at Texas also. Sometimes that "fit" equates to not having a lot of competition for playing time. Whatever the case I'm glad to see them all doing well, especially Dee and Hadi.

After listening to Vic’s latest press conference, he continually mentioned things he could and couldn’t discuss. I’m just wondering what he’s referring to. Officiating maybe?

That's what I got out of it... by his mentioning that the way Oldacre is being "judged" and that she is "not outside the rules" without coming out and saying the officiating sucks and they are not calling fairly where she is concerned.

Could it be that they have new opportunities, and are taking advantage of the skills they learned under the coach who time has passed by...?

Not sure what you mean by "the coach who time has passed by." But, whatever the case, sure they are enjoying new opportunities. As previously stated, sometimes those new opportunities come from less competition for playing time at a new school.

Nice to see Vic taking umbrage about the game being called a rout. I think the worst for me was seeing the game called "stinky" and that one could count of Texas having a couple of "stinky" games a year. Can't think of one other team that's ever had these types of adjectives applied to their play. In any event, I'm ready for Texas to get their scoring in order and right the ship. Hope these types of headlines are great motivators for the team. :hookem:

Texas bigs haven’t got calls upon my research that some of the other schools in the top 15 get. It’s like they get punished for being physical and tough sometimes. I’m glad to see him starting to get upset and think he should be. Just like yesterday Rori took to Twitter , which she never does, to reword a statement from the postgame press! Like wtf if you watched it you knew what she meant. The SC was more about us playing a off game more than SC being the big bad wolf. That first quarter and the calls through us and we didn’t rebound from it.

Agreed. I'm also glad Vic ripped directly into Kirk Bohls' @$$... All any half-conscious sports writer would have to do is analyze that box score, and see that we were not blown out. It felt like domination during the game at times, because we could never really threaten them once we fell behind because we couldn't even throw a lay up in the ocean. But that game was all about missed shots that were mostly wide open around the paint, and that we got within the framework of our offense. I hate that we did not play better on that big stage, but I don't feel bad about the loss. Hopefully it will serve as fuel for our fire going forward.

I still believe the biggest takeaway for our team from that game should be to realize they can and should beat them in Austin. I hope it sinks in.

As for players who have left, I look less at how they are doing (although happy if they are doing well) and more at how their new team is doing compared to us. Rarely do they end up on a team with a better record than the one they left. It’s easier to be a big fish in a smaller pond. That said, I love/miss De and will find it hard to root against her. Truly hope she is happy with her decision. She would have been great relief this season for Moore’s knee issues. (BTW - Prince never played in the burnt orange and left because she felt neglected by Karen and the medical staff)

Texas by 30. :smokin:

Kirk Bohls is not a sports writer. He is a TMZ reporter masquerading as a sports reporter. Where can I find Vic's response?

Yeah. It’s actually at the very end and he is taking offense to the headline that appeared in the paper. I have to agree. If you watched that game, we were competitive despite the final score. We had an off shooting night and unfortunately it was against #2. That same effort against most teams would have been a low scoring W. It’s all about Auburn now, but I’m looking forward hosting SC in Austin. :hookem:

Well, the first 4 minutes were a bit sketchy for me. Texas shooting only 37.5% and getting out rebounded early. Time to warm up, gals!

You should be able to get it on the ESPN app if your provider offers the SEC network which it sounds like it does.

21 point lead after two. Texas has a total of 4 fouls at halftime with two of them on A-Mo. Auburn has five players with two fouls. Let’s not let off the gas like the men did last night in Norman (almost blowing a 23 pt lead).
