Your favorite toys growing up.

I had one of those electric football games, the base vibrated and the players started moving around, sometimes even in the right direction. They had little plastic tabs underneath each player, and you had to jack with them to get the players to go forward. It was a little irritating.
But I also had a version of the Foto-Electric football game shown in this ad:
The Link

It was a lighted box, and you had an envelope of offensive plays and an envelope of defensive plays. The person on offense place his play face down, the defense put his on top, then you pulled the cardboard cover back and the light shone through the two plays. A run was a solid line, a pass was a dotted line. Where the defenders intersected the line was where the tackle was made.
Eat your heart out, Madden video game fans.

I also loved army men--one of my favorite things was to set up all the army men around spots in the ground and toss firecrackers from the roof to try and blow them up (I considered it artillery or mortar fire). I was a pretty stupid kid.
-------------------------------------------------------
Not stupid; that's exactly what I did as well as shooting at them with a BB gun (sniper fire)

* Hot Wheels (I had miles & miles of that bright orange track and dozens of the little purple connectors)

* Army men (I spent a large portion of my youth killing Germans; kind of bizarre when you think about it)

* Creepy Crawlers (Basically, a hot plate. I can't believe this was a toy. I also used it to execute, i.e. melt, my German POW's)

Super Toe.............I could kick two hundred yard field goals if I turned the ball sideways.

You guys are stirring up some memories with all this.

I used to get these sets of plastic soldiers that included green soldiers, brown ones, tanks, pillboxes etc. And like others here, loved to set them up and toss firecrackers.
We played a lot of "Army" in my neighborhod, so I always had my trusty tommy gun handy.
HO scale slot cars.
I don't remember what it as called, but we had what was basiclly a big rubber ball with a couple of handles...you sat on it and started bouncing along...if you landed wrong you shot off sideways.

With the bow and arrow we used to see how high we could shoot the arrows... Oh those were the days.....no caring about "safety"..awesome!!

HornHawk I had one of those. The first play I ever saw VY take was in Houston against Rice. I said "Holy cow, what is THAT???" The little girl next to me said "that's Vince Young" and her grandfather was beaming. It reminded me of electric football. Awesome.

Back on topic, My favorite toy was a lunar lander. Basically a joystick controlled fan that blew balloons around. Landed it on my grandmother's beehive and took off again. Ahh, good times.

Being an old fud I had the Davy Crockett gear from the Walt Disney Show: coonskin cap, rifle and plastic hunting knife. I still have the cap and some Hopalong Cassidy stuff.
