'Yes we can'...McCain style

Say what!!!
funny stuff.

Funny how the people that decry partisan politics like to take things out of context. For example, McCain's reference to possibly spending a hundred years in Iraq, he specifically said in the next breath if American troops were not being harmed.

In any case, when he was a P.O.W, he and others said "Yes, we can" endure our captors' torments.

For that, he deserves respect, not ridicule from the YouTube generation.

Funny. This is why a politician, especially a Senator with a voting record, is always going to struggle. Much better to have no record at all and run on "Change" and "Yes we can", or "I have 35 years of experience being Bill's wife".

Good find on the McCain quote - I'll never doubt your googling skills. That said, McCain supports my position that comparing Osama and Hussein to Cleland was reprehensible. Maybe you should recheck your "facts."

Well...that WAS the premise that McCain put out there...

If that's not the case, I assume he wouldn't be OK with them being there...

That ad washpark linked is precisely the ad in question, regarding Max Cleland.

The "poor Max Cleland" story is a myth. He voted against the creation of the Department of Homeland Security because it didn't enable unions to organize and run the department. People running against him made an ad about it. In my opinion, the ad could have been a whole lot tougher. The ad didn't morph faces into other faces, as people started erroneously claiming. Somehow, though, the whole thing morphed into a controversy, which morphed into a myth. Frankly, it was pathetic how John Kerry had Cleland on stage with him in 2004 whining about the mean Republican attacks.

The fact of the matter is that Cleland was far, far left of the median Georgia voter. Georgia now has a Senator that represents its ideology and values. Cleland felt entitled to a long, comfortable political career because of his Vietnam heroics. He was wrong. People rejected him on policy. They also rejected his whiny hyperbole (Georgians saw the ad and felt he was overreacting) and insolent attitude (Georgians never really heard a good explanation why he was willing to go to the mat for unions the way he did) on the whole matter.
