XM vs. Sirius

Per SiriusRadio.com

I certainly have no inside knowledge but Sirius seems to think they are carrying the Rose Bowl. My guess is that neither the UT nor the UM broadcast won't be on Sirius but the national broadcast will. It only shows one channel that will have the game I know that both UT and Michigan have deals with Sirius

I started another thread about what I'm about to ask, but I can't find it at the moment and don't know if my question was answered anyway. I currently have XM radio in the vehicle I just bought and I love it. My question is how much would it cost to have it on a home stero, work stereo, another vehicle, etc? I know I would need a receiver for everything that currently isn't XM compatible, but what else? I'm clueless when it comes to this and figured I could get better and quicker answers coming here first before doing my own checking.

your best bet is getting a roady 2 and a home kit. and you can get additional antennas for more vehicles.

Roady 2 - 100 dollars - comes with everything you need for one car.

Home kit - 40 dollars - remote, stand, antenna, and power.

you can move the actual unit around anywhere you want it.

i just got all of the above - if you want some more detailed info shoot me an email - [email protected]

I second the Roady2 choice. That's what the family got me for Christmas-- then I loaded it up for my semiannual trip down to Texas and it just awesome. I'm sure either service would have done fine for my purposes (zero attention span, love to surf between channels, esp. talk channels), but I can pull the Roady2 in and out of any of our cars (you can attach it to an AC duct), have it play out of my stereo through the FM transmitter, put the antenna on the dashboard (which they don't recommend but it worked fine), and I was good to go. Made that thousand-mile trip much more enjoyable.

It would be very rare that there would be a sports event I'd want to listen to on the radio anyway, so for me it was the music choice half of which I'm waaay too old for) and the wonderful talk selection that was cool.

They also got me the home setup kit which I have to fine-tune some now that I'm back in the tundra.

I've had XM for over a year and it's cool...but from what I have read and heard about Sirius...I would rather have it.

I will probably get a Sirius connection soon.

I had 2 XM subs- now have an XM and a Sirius in my car. Gotta say I prefer the Sirius for music. I like XM for variety- talk, random channels (cinemagic, live, etc. that I only listen to if I'm channel surfing). Music on XM tends to be deeper (ie- not as many repeats- and more obscure songs). Both kick am/fm's ***.

I have the Sirius Sportster and love it. Huge display and I have a car docking station as well as a home kit. The amount of stations don't mean much to me because I limit my music selections to about 25 stations. And about 5-6 news and sports stations.

I don't see that many repeats except on the Sirius hits channel, but thats the programming for that channel - current hits. By definition that can only be X number of songs.

Like the favorite music selections. Anytime one of my 20 favorite songs come on any station, the Sportster unit notifies me and I can switch over to that station. Maybe other units/XM have it but its a cool feature thats not talked about much.

One area I was disappointed about Sirius is that only their music stations are boradcast over the internet. I was hoping to get some of the sports talk over the internet at work, but no go. Still at least this feature is free with Sirius. XM charges for it, and at that point the two services cost about the same.

the XM vs Sirius debate seems to be like Houston vs Dallas. I don't think you can go wrong with either satellite service.

Looks like Sirius did a good job adding this new product to their list.

I've got XM and love it. Has Sirius in a rental car and liked it too. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I'm excited about baseball. Now I can listen to my 'stros all year long instead of the 6 games they have on ESPN per year.

I've got XM in my everyday Suburban I drive to wrok and around Dallas.

I've got Sirius in my F-250 I drive to South Texas and back hunting. I like them both, but I think that XM has better music right now. The only sporting event that I have listened to on XM was part of the Wake Forest- Texas basketball game. It was an ACC broadcast so XM carried it.
