WVU at Texas 02/19/2023

The best thing for this team right now is the fact this is the only game in the next 11 days. I hope the rest serves as a reset for the final push and tourney season.

If Sonya is out of this game, it will be about replacing her offensive prowess by several players. DeYona needs a productive game (she had 8 points last game), Shaylee needs to be shooting more at every open look instead of dipping and driving (need more than 11 pts. out of her), and Shay and Jak need to be picking it up as they rotate out of Sonya's position (they were scoreless the last game).

Hopefully those three, and all the rest will come to play and have great production today, but Shay and Jak weren’t scoreless in the isu game. Love to see Shay look for her shot more. Jak had something of a breakout game at isu and scored 10 points, including 2/3 FT, with 5 RB (3 OR). Really hoping that was her turnaround game. We need her moving forward. :hookem: Here’s to beating WVU!

Vic's media availability from Friday. Wait for it... he addresses the EXACT same thing regarding offensive rebounds against ISU that I addressed on this board.

When is Sonya returning to the court?

Not perfect but a good win! This week will be all about rest and readiness... two big games in three days next weekend.

Hook Em :hookem:

Glad to get the win.

On a separate rant, why on earth would LHN choose to air a reply of our game against TCU at the same exact time as our LIVE game against WVU on ESPNU? I mean, get a clue about common sense programming.

Sorry, last game against West Virginia, hence my stat quotes.

Great game if you don't watch the 2nd quarter. Can`t afford to have that happen again next week. Rest up, Gals!:hookem2:

We did that with Sonya on the bench. This team is better than we realize. And here’s hoping Sonya is ready to play in a week. :hookem:

We have our moments for sure. No doubt we play better at home than on the road. Just hoping we get Sonya healthy and we don't stub our toe more than once or twice the rest of the way. I'm sure everyone wants the regular season and conference tourney crowns (including me); but, my main (selfish) goal is to not fall out of Top 16 and hosting first and second rounds in the NCAA tourney.

Our net ranking is still 11. I think we can beat OU. We’ll have to play our best game, but I think this group will rise to that occasion. I think we will win against Baylor on our court. Believe it or not, it’s the KState game I am most worried about. But overall, I feel pretty good about our staying in the top 16.

I don’t know if I’m misinterpreting Vic’s response in today’s post game presser but sounds like Kyndall is definitely gone.

I heard the same answer as you. It’s likely a mutual decision and it’s the best decision for both parties.

Good luck to Kyndall with her future endeavors.

From Vics' reactions you could tell at the beginning of the season there was no way Hunter would be back.
On Sonya, thinking there is a little more to it. .. She spent the night before the Tech game at the hospital, this after finishing the Saturday game and doing the Monday presser. Something /injury off the court they are not eager to talk about.Vic said she was not injured in practice so it does not leave a whole lot. They are being cryptic

This team reminds me so much of the 2020 team. Had our ugly moments but right around this team in the season a switch just clicked and that team never looked back. I hope that is the case for this team. Coming off a performance like this there is no reason to go back. Now they see what they are capable of it’s time to take that next step and keep it consistent. Now we just need to get Morris back healthy and I think this team can make some serious noise.

Not sure I understand your comments. Vic's comments to the press prior to the first game of the season were that Kyndall was away due to "family reasons". I didn't necessarily believe those comments were accurate of the situation, but I wasn't thinking at that time (October?) that Kyndall for sure wouldn't return to the team at some point during the season.

The exact question was "Will Kyndall be back?". Now, I don't know if that meant "this season" or "next season". Vic's answer was a simple "no". He didn't ask for clarification of the question. And, he didn't say "not this season". So, it seemed like an infinite answer.

I stated a few days ago that I just couldn't believe all this time away from team practices, the coaches, basketball games, and other team functions were a good sign that she'd remain part of the program in the future. Surprised there was no December or January transfer announcement. Vic having kept mum about the topic for the last 4 months seemed unusual to me; but, I guess if none of the media asked about Hunter directly, then Vic wasn't gone volunteer information. That reporter must have read my comment here the other day and made it a point to ask Vic that uncomfortable question. :p
