Mayfield’s a turd, Murray’s a crybaby, we wouldn’t want them, but the NFL obviously thinks highly of them as they’re both starting. And the NFL scouts thought highly of Rattler as some projected him the best quarterback in the draft. But we’ll just let OU have the turd NFL quarterbacks and win championships with them and we’ll just keep the good old Texas kids with high upside that the right coach can possibly eventually hopefully one day “develop” into 6th round draft picks like Sam.

IMHO, and in the opinion of NFL scouts, Rattler is better NOW than any qb we have NOW. I’m talking about NOW. Not potentially. That’s all OU cared about when they grabbed Mayfield, Murray and Hurts. They’ve always had the priority of winning CHAMPIONSHIPS, NOW, not making sure their prized golden boy recruits didn’t transfer.

My points were not meant to apply to Rattler specifically. Just that, no matter what our situation at qb, we should at least CONSIDER a PROVEN transfer. Hopefully no one here would be against a proven transfer offensive lineman, because we need to “develop” the guys we have. So why not a proven qb? Casey's teammates like him a hell of a lot better than Rattler's teammates like him.

Rattler reminds me an awful lot of Bomar. Cocky, arrogant, and not very likeable, even within his own team and fellow non-athlete students.

Proven QB transfers don't just grow on trees. If a QB goes into the portal it usually isn't because he was the superstar starter at his previous school and he is just looking for a change of scenery. Best example I can think of is Joe Burrow. LSU caught lightning in a bottle with him, but he doesn't fit your definition of a "proven" QB. He never got playing time at tOSU. But sure, when a proven QB is available and he doesn't have red flags (lockerroom cancer) associated with him, we ought to at least consider going after him.

I saw all I needed with his body language after a few mistakes in the RRR. It was denial and false bravado.
You won't improve anything, football or otherwise, attempting to protect your pride at the expense of honest assessment.
