Will we still be "UT" in the SEC

We're the Big UT

Tenn is the little UT (much, much smaller than us)

We're also Westerners (who are somehow in the Southeast Conference)

They are Easterners

That has already been settled in court. Tennessee sued over Texas using UT.

I don't remember the particulars of the outcome.

LOL, yes. People will understand which UT a speaker is referring to based on context clues. If they are playing each other, the speaker will surely specify which he or she means. Just like the SEC has survived with the Tigers playing the Tigers a week after playing the Tigers - all conference games.

Expect in aggyland where we will remain tu...

TEXAS and The University of Texas are known around the world (especially in the oil countries) and the Longhorn image is well known in North America. Not so for UT (could be Texas; could be Tennessee; or could be Utah).

F Tennessee. :texasflag: :bevo:

I know manufacturing rivalries doesn't usually work, but the multiple UT thing, both being shades of orange, and the shared history, a friendly semi-rivalry with Tennessee makes sense. Should be a "Davy Crockett Trophy" of some sort on the line when we play them; maybe a replica musket or a coonskin cap.

Should be real musket

Its funny how the turds in the SEC think we care about all these tiddlywink things. Last time I checked Texas is across the front of the jersey. Bama weenies still whining about band placement and oooooh we're getting Texas back by putting the band high up. Who cares? Not me nor anyone I know.

They all get their panties in a wad over stupid crap. I can't wait until they think they are offending us with the horns down. I don't care.

Jimmie Rodgers original. Used to hear it covered by Austin progressive country bands in the mid to late '70's.

You have no idea until you live amongst the mouth breathers. My ex and all of her family were Vols. I adopted them as my SEC team.

She was absolutely pissed when she learned we were coming. She started saying the the real UT was in Knoxville. I said, “I don’t care because we are Texas. We will be hated regardless and I love it.”
Side note: anyone in need of Volunteer gear?

As you know ii’s I spend a lot of time in Tenn as most of my family is there. I always refer to it as the little ut. Entire family are Longhorn fans (raised right) but one son-in-law graduated from Knox. We tolerate him because he’s a pretty good guy. My daughter the wife, is close to me with her Longhorn spirit but the most fun is their two occupations, he now works as an attorney in the DA’s office whereas she works in the public defender’s office. Great fun to watch them ‘discussing’ cases. I think she wore some sort of Longhorn attire everyday to work this week, changing only for court.

I grew up in Tennessee and a Vols fan hence the name. I still watch games from time to time, but I can not and will not go to the message boards to have a logical conversation. I come here and voice opinions then we have educated dialogue some more spirited than others. I go there and the first graders all come out and go to the lowest denominator because I dare say something critical. I don't expect everyone to agree, but it's universal childishness. I experienced the exact same thoughtless drool from the Bama fans last year. This year I just avoided them all.

I have relatives in Memphis that are big Vols fans. They are good people and not obnoxious but openly not happy ou and THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS are joining the SEC.

Like the idea of a Davy Crockett trophy or award when UT and ut play.

I'm always grateful we had brave Patriots like Davy of TN, others from TN, AL, Jim Bowie from KY and others, etc. fight at the Alamo and for Texas independence!

That's an interesting idea. When I first got to Texas in the 80's I really took pride that many Tennesseans came to Texas to help the cause and here I am. I think your idea gives a positive spin on a potential new friendly rivalry. Back in my day they used to teach about people leaving for Texas headed for the Alamo and putting a GTT sign on their doors. I don't know if the younger generations get that education.
