Will MO's comments cost votes?

...and the 'no way we're gonna lose' mentality is what has sunk Hillary.

a lot of Obama supporters are acting like everything is a foregone conclusion.

that's a mistake.

Can someone post the difference between the Electoral College and the popular vote, I am too tired to explain it again.

it will not cost him votes.

Won't sway anyone already who was already going to vote for him.

9 out of 10 voters probably couldn't even name Obama's wife.

I know no Obama supporter who thinks this thing is wrapped up (save maybe Sii
tongue.gif
). It won't be wrapped up until they announce the candidate at the convention... and maybe not even then.

No, that is stupid. What has sunk Hillary is the mass mobilization and the grass roots $$ that is coming in for Obama. Just because the Clinton campaign thought they had it in the bag did NOT prevent them from spending and fighting in all the states. So, your assessment on the whole situation is incorrect and frankly nonsensical. But thank you for your thoughts and I wish you well.

I agree - it won't cost him votes for those who are already "committed" to him.

For independents/Republicans considering a vote for him in swing states, it was a gaffe (and not her only one). It will be difficult to spin the gaffes, as she cannot play the "dumb spouse" card.

She is bright, well educated and blessed to have the opportunities she has been given. She has no room to talk about Wal-Mart.

I disagree. Repubs are going to vote for JM or abstain. They are going to throw enough dirt at BO to make sure that voting Red votes red.

The independents are smarter. They are independent for a reason. No independent is going to emphasize that one inocent phrase that people are hell bent on twisting and giving their own meaning to. It is not a big deal and most reasonable people and independents recognize that. Also, Michelle is not running for office just like Hillary wasn't in 92.

If Obama is the Dem nominee, he could deliver South Carolina to the Dems for the first time in 32 years.
Check out these numbers from SUSA for Virginia which has been pegging primaries thus farThe Link :

Virginia
. 2/15-17. 554 registered voters. MoE 4.2%

McCain 45%
Obama 51%

McCain 48%
Clinton 45%

Michelle Obama said something controversial ?

L10,

I am not proud of America for 'winning' the cold war. I hardly believe the breaking up of the USSR and the sale of military equipment to everyone with a dollar, made me safe.

But then again, I am not a bread and circuses kind of guy.

mrs obama's comments reveal a profound difference between the left and right. the left can't get prideful about america and its accomplishments because their baseline is some ideal of the perfect society. as long as we mere mortal humans continue to fall short of that ideal, they will never get verklempt over our achievements. otoh, the right's pride in america is more firmly rooted in the real world. the right compares our country and what it has done with the rest of th world's accomplishments. the right accepts that imperfect humans screw up and dabble in evil, including those from the govt who are just here to help.

obama is beating clinton because he won the left-most wing of the democrat party, the more active part of the party. i don't think he'll have same sort of success with the independent voters who are neither far left or far right. the independent voters are right in mccain's wheelhouse.

hook'em
