Will JC go in the first round?

In a normal year of running back depth he might have slipped into the last part of the first round, but this is an exceptionally deep year for RBs.

Charles has first round talent, but there are a lot of speedy backs about his size in the draft this year. I see him as the fourth best running back this year, but there's not a lot of difference in potential from 4-8.

AAS has a story this a.m.

This part seems esp relevant:

The NFL committee that evaluates college underclassmen informed Charles back in December that he'd likely be a second-round selection. That was good enough for Charles,... "It wasn't that tough of a decision to make," Charles said this week. "Second round is pretty good."
And that projection probably will hold on Saturday.
The NFL committee that evaluates college underclassmen informed Charles back in December that he'd likely be a second-round selection. That was good enough for Charles,
"When Charles announced his decision, the running back pool for the draft was considered relatively shallow. But then several high-profile underclassmen, including Arkansas's Darren McFadden and Felix Jones, Illinois' Rashard Mendenhall, and Oregon's Jonathan Stewart, declared, and tailback suddenly became a plus.

Coincidentally, Charles is ranked behind those four players. East Carolina's Chris Johnson, the fastest prospect in the draft, also has jumped into the first-round mix."

Still not getting my hopes up on #1 for JC, but it would really be cool to have Sweed + JC go in the !st. I Like this excerpt from today's AAS"

"Limas Sweed, ranked among the top three receiver prospects in this weekend's draft, hopes a shot of him becomes the 41st picture on the wall. There's an outside chance that running back Jamaal Charles could ease into the first round, too, giving Texas the unique streak of five straight years with a top-round pair."

after that fiasco by the titans, i'm beginning to worry about sending one player in the 1st round.

who needs a wideout most badly? any chance jj takes limas if he's available?

JC is getting a taste of bitter medicine at this time, anyone with half a brain knew he would go very low in the draft if he left early, now we are seeing that come true. The family members that pushed him to go are eating crow now.

I think in the long run, JC's impatience is going to cost him a lot of dollars.

He really should have come back. I'm still hoping for the best for him though...

Charles would have been better off to come back if he could have proven he could hold onto the ball. Turnovers just aren't tolerated at the next level. Outside of that, don't think he changes his draft status much. The rest of his game would have been pretty much the same. Now if he would have put up 2K yards, that might be different.
