Will JC go in the first round?

Everything I've seen about the first round of the draft mentions nothing about JC but I assume he would be a high second round pick, right? I haven't followed the draft coverage very closely and have no idea which team is interested in him. Any info would be very appreciated.

This is the annual time of year when hornfans message boards overrate every UT prospect in the NFL Draft.

Honestly, I think JC should consider himself lucky if he is drafted in the 2nd round. He has the following red flags on his resume, which should scare any GM to death:

- Injury prone / Durability questions (nothing serious, but constantly came out of games due to fatigue or nicks)
- Fumbling (well chronicled on here)
- Size (given issue #1, can he carry the load for a team? If not -- if he needs to be platooned, then you draft him 3rd round or later)

Yes, he has blazing speed, but once you get to the NFL, everyone has blazing speed.

I wish JC the best of luck this weekend, but I think he has a lot of questions to answer.

More than likely he'll go in the 2nd Round, but I think with the Cowboys needing another RB it is going to come down to Felix Jones and JC with one of their 1st Round picks. I think they'll go Felix Jones due to Jerry's ties with Arkisaw and the fact that Felix Jones has KR/PR ability where as JC never did that here.

I don't believe either Limas or Jamaal will go in the first round. No matter what all the 'draft experts' say, I think they are second round material.

In all honesty, I think JC will lose some stock because of Reggie Bush. They are truly similar players if you look at both coming out of school. Super speedy, highly talented running backs. Reggie has shown that a running back that is lightweight and fast may not be "the guy" and that backlash will be felt by JC certainly. He's a smallish guy. Not a full time back and certainly untrained as a receiver. I think it would benefit JC greatly to volunteer to do some punt and kick returning. He never did it with us because he was too valuable a player on offense, but he'd be a burner in the league!

based on his being a longhorn he deserves to go in the first. based on his football abilities, i'd not take him before the 4th. guess that's why i'm not a gm.

If each gets two picks in the first round then I would say definately maybe.

Others have addressed this well, but my take is that

Limas will go in the 1st (he could possibly drop to the 2nd, but I don't think so.

JC wouldl be fortunate to go in the 2nd round. 3rd or 4th are plausible. My guess is that he goes in the 3rd. Of course, the speed is alluring and could trump other concerns for the right team. Even so, JC's any pick in the first two rounds is a serious gamble for JC.

Although I do notice that Pete Fiutak--whoever that is!--likes him some Jamaal (that #24 is best overall talent, although he anticipates JC going in the 2nd)

24. Jamaal Charles, RB Texas
So which Jamaal Charles will the pros be getting? Will he be the breathtaking speedster who beat Oklahoma State and Nebraska by himself last year, or will be the one who struggled as a sophomore and didn't play up to expectations or his talent level? Probably a little of both, but the upside is too great to pass up. The big issue could be Texas. After the Ricky Williams situation and Cedric Benson turning into a dog of a pro, is there going to be an anti-Longhorn bias? Built like a smaller Darren McFadden, Charles is a sprinter who can be used in a variety of ways. While he showed he could handle a big workload last season, he's not going to be a pounding back who can handle a full-season NFL schedule as a workhorse. He's not a power back by any stretch, but if he's able to keep his touches to around 15-to-20 per game, he'll be a difference maker.

There is absolutely no way JC is still on the board when the third round starts. I would say middle of the second round is when he goes.

I think Jamaal is a late half of the second round guy. The problem is that I can't think of many teams other than Seattle drafting from pick 48 through 64 that would invest a relatively high pick on a running back.

The Giants might have some interest but I'm not sure it would be enough to justify a second round pick in their minds. Tennesse might jump on it if they feel they need a compliment to White's plodding, power-running style.

But Seattle seems like one of the more likely places.
