I really use to enjoy listening to the broadcast of the College World Series. Now I get two idiots who make me want to jab pencils in my ear.

All those guys talked about was pro baseball and how the college guys would do in the pros. Then they talked about the differences between the pros and college.

I understand that in a 4 hour game there needs to be some "fill". But to drone on and on about the pro game drove me crazy.

I agree 100%. Someone get us an email address so we can let them know what we think. Surely we aren't the only ones who think that these guys are stinking up the joint.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought he did a great job highlighting each player's talents. He made the games more interesting to watch.

It baffled me how in the middle of a great game between two of the best teams in the country in the College Freaking World Series the announcers devoted most of their discussion to anything but the game they were watching. Were they bored?

I also miss Harold Reynolds calling the games in Omaha. He clearly loved the CWS.

Second all above! I do not give a rats *** about pro potential and player hand size etc. this was a fantastic game with tons of drama and all they could talk about was pro ball. Orel needs to move on to ...anywhere but Omaha. Bring back Harold just for the CWS, if they like.

I do question the assumption they are making that most of their audience are going to be MLB fans. I am pretty sure the MLB fans are going to be watching MLB so why are they catering to them so much?

Even I noticed that the annoucers were bad. I don't usually have an opinion on the announcers but in the middle of the game I asked my husband "why are the announcers talking about their favorite sports movies? Are they bored? Shouldn't they talking about the game, it's a pretty good game."

MLB is MLB, and college ball is a different sport. We don't want to hear about someone getting $10k more for four innings during the College World Series. These guys know major league ball, but they don't know college ball, and shouldn't spend hours yakking about pro ball, the Sound of Music, or their favorite sports movies.
They need to know there is a magical event going on right in front of their bloated egos, right under their fat heads, and if they do the games long enough they will come to realize that.
But it ain't happening yet.
All those pro announcers are like that, they only see college ball as another minor league, but it isn't. Most of them did not play college baseball, and have no feel for the sport.

Agree 100% to all above. Good post someone. What I also liked about that guy (sorry, I forgot his name), is that he usually had at least one or two tips for the kids watching about skills or pointers. My son got something out of it, because he watches the CWS with me every year. That, and he was a LOT more interesting to listen to.

HR, was fired by ESPN a year or two ago because he was alleged to have been making sexually harrassing comments to women while at work.

I miss Harold.

I have read that the harassment charges were suspect, and I have to wonder given that he found a home at the new MLB Network so soon after.

At least the conversation about twitter during the sunday game was informative. I think we can all agree on that.

Turn off the volume to the TV. Instead, tune in to 1300AM and listen to Craig and Keith.

don't know how you are supposed to do that line stuff but to comment: I wish I could do just that. Unfortunately here in Houston we cannot tune in 1300. I used to like Orel, mainly because of the W Series when he did so incredibly well but this was disturbing. The taking off the glasses was absurd.

Go Horns!!!!

The VA/Arkie commentating was infinitely better. My bet is that Mike Patrick saw that inane drivel that transpired during our game with ASU and warned Orel that he would have a repeat performance on his watch.
