Why was the Clemens hearing so partisan?

The Dems by nature were going to go hard after the "rich guy" who is now bullying or sueing this "little man" trainer. The Repubs by nature were going to protect the "rich guy" from a total lying little ***** while attacking the little man who is of no consequence to them.

For all the egomaniacal tendancies Bonds' have he had the sense to not go before a congressional committee and and try to lie. After yesterday, I don't know why anybody would stand up for Clemens, Texan or not. Just because he went to Texas doesn't mean that you should genuflect before him.

Why were Repubs so against lying in the Clinton scandal, but are now ok with it?
