why is there no Whataburger near campus?

there were rumors that one was being built next to the Villas (blockbuster on guadalupe area), but it turns out it's just another apt complex.

any 24 hour place can make money around campus... a whataburger would be a ******* cash cow on thursday thru saturday nights after bars closed.

There use to be and it sucked. They must have gotten their patties from the Jester cafeteria.

keep dreaming. their whole schtick is how fresh everything is, delivered daily from their warehouse... no warehouse in texas = no in & out's in texas.

fatburger is in san antonio and coming soon to austin, though.

I gotta agree w/ ScoPro. Whataburger owns In-N-Out and Fatburger. It's easily the best fast food burger I've had and it's just one more reason why anyone in Texas should thank their lucky stars daily that they are.

Needs to be a whataburger where the old towers record was (24th and guadalupe). Its an empty space and it would make a killing. Some friends and i were thinking about it but the franchise fee was too much.

Some friends and I were thinking opening one?

I wish and so do a lot of others. Whataburgers give out state wide licenses to ONLY new territories. Unfortunately Texas is not a new territory. Therefore all are owned by the Whataburger corporation which is wholly owned by the Dobson family and controlling interests.

Plus the spot in the old Tower Records is going to be a museum owned by our friends at the Co-Op.

Why the W hasn't moved in on campus? Frankly, I would guess they aren't that interested in what you might call saturated markets or well established areas. If you notice Whataburger's recent builds in Austin have been in exploding areas along new growth corridors.

Frankly I think Whataburger is afraid if they build any nearer campus outlets then it will hurt their others that surround it. Honestly though, I dont see it. The market is there and the amount of people there couldn't make a big dent in the others revenue streams.

There are so many good spots right now in the campus area, its very frustrating that Whataburger will not move in. They would print money and I joke around that they would set records every day for taquito sales. It would be an absolute goldmine.

That one on the drag was fairly disgusting. In fact the whole drag was fairly dirty back then. Now it's so sterile.

Just talking about Whataburger makes me salivate. Being up here in Seattle, nothing even comes close. Since we have the SportsPac with DirectTV, we always pause (TiVo) when Whataburger commercials come on Fox Sports SW and sigh, followed by whining.
