Why does the decision to invade still matter?

Bozo - I see your point and respect your opinion.

Let me add this....the history of modern warfare is basically a history of colossal f'ups. From a tactical standpoint, Iraq is no bellwether of incompetence. I believe the book is still out on the strategic decision as that will be played out over the course of the next 10 to 20 years.

Iraq having WMD's was certainly no more of an immediate threat to the USA than North Korea, and I don't see us invading them any time soon.
