Why are you guys so pissed at the Scott situation?

Since I've been unjustly accused of plagiarism, I wrote some lines to reflect my inner feelings. Hopefully, you'll enjoy these:

I close my eyes, only for a moment, then the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity

The story is that all our recruiting calls are recorded, and that Bobby Kennedy got some incriminating stuff on tape.

We'll see.

Bundy, for a fan of agricultural, your posts here are usually pretty rational and straight-forward. This one is too, if you're genuinely confused about the Scott recruitment.

Simply put, something questionable in Scott's commitment is pretty blatant. If someone representing Colorado did make a job offer to Mama, they weren't subtle enough, if a phone recording exists.

Texas, just like every other school, has and will lose recruits at the last minute, and under normal circumstances, you won't see Mack making an issue of it, if in fact he's making an issue this time.

One fact is this...NO ONE from Texas is "turning in" Colorado to the NCAA. There is a likelihood that the UT President, as a courtesy to Colorado's President, is/has made a call apprising him of the situation and Texas' concern. As I see it, the ball is in Colorado's court to see if there is any substance to this.

As rational as you are Bundy, you know full well that if agricultural were to lose a recruit in the same manner as Texas was jilted by Scott, with similar allegations, fans of your school would be turning the air blue, or maroon over in B-C.S.

Last but not least, if you weren't seriously inquiring, but were trying to get a rise out of us, forget the nice things I said about you at the front of this.

If that's the case then Pete I hope they get hammered.
It seems the longer this story goes the more smoke there is.
I would think Texas would have to report stuff like this for no other reason then the NCAA demands accountability.
It would seem that if Texas knew of recruiting violations & didn't report them w/ actual fact(s) that they in turn would be in part responsible.
I bet if he has it he'll have to turn it over.
You never know, maybe the mom said CU is offering me this, what you got?

We're not trying to start a spit fight 73, ala the old SWC. There's just so much about the Scott commitment that doesn't pass the smell test, and if the alleged recorded phone conversation does exist, Texas is duty-bound to get in touch with Colorado higher-ups about this. As for reporting anything to the NCAA, I seriously doubt Texas will initiate anything, but will comply if there is an NCAA investigation.

As an okie fan, you know what a lot of us are saying is true. This isn't sour grapes. We've lost plenty of talent to OU over the years, and didn't particularly like it. However, you haven't seen this kind of reaction out of UT fans toward OU...we've expressed our feelings about OU in other ways.

Hey, I'm in agreement here.
At first I thought it was a bunch of sour grapes & you guys were acting retarded over being jilted by another OOS recruit & were just fed up.
If in fact that his mom was dumb enough to try to cut a deal & it's on tape then I hope everyone but the kid gets burned.
It's hard enough to recruit these days w/out sticking your neck way out there on stuff like this & truth be known, I'm sure some of it goes on every where to some extent.
But to actually have someone in a bidding war goes beyond the usual "hey, Devon is hiring & I here they are looking for some smart people" "Know the guys over there pretty good" or "Your kid is not going to go hungry while away from home. Promise"...I'm sure stuff like that goes on all the time but the actual "cold hard cash talks" stuff is pretty bad.
If it happens to Texas then it can/will happen to OU.
Thanks God we have cash in a shoebox tho...

The RP situation was entirely different. I don't recall any allegations of under-the-table offers being made. It was just obvious with RP that, while he still claimed to be committed to Texas, he'd decided otherwise, and was actively trying to sway others to head to Baton Rouge. As a fan of agricultural, that situation should have bugged you too, since one of his main targets was to get Martellus away from you. What RP did was somewhat underhanded, but nothing like the allegations in Scott's commitment.

I remember when people were on this very board talking about the make, model and color of the car Albert Means' handlers were demanding. It seemed hard to believe, and every bit of it was later found to be true.

I, for one, am liking the way we are handling the situation. We leave it up to CU to investigate the situation, thereby not hopefully coming across as whining babies.
Let CU nut up to any wrongdoing on their own. If they are indeed guilty, they provide the info to the NCAA. I like us not turning them in. IF they are innocient, no harm done with falsely accusing them.

If you truly don't understand the reaction on here Bundy, then I'd say it's your failure to grasp, not ours' to explain.

As for our President calling CU's, it's a courtesy we'd extend to others, and want sent our way in a similar situation. Colorado had better give it more than lip service, given their recent past under Barnett, because almost certainly, the NCAA's gonna look into this. If Colorado is found to have some dirt on their hands, I doubt they'll skate this time with self-imposed penalties, especially if they try to sweep this under the rug.

The only thing I don't like (since I am sure you care) is that the Presidents office leaked this to local radio.......if they did that is.

turning a school in to the ncaa would be begging for a **** storm as every school trying to recruit texas kids (and there are alot, as we know) would submit everything that they could spin as the least bit suspicious. kinda like how the smu alums were pissed at swc schools getting their program killed, so they went on a mission to destroy the other teams, with varying degrees of success.

however, if we turn info over to the president, then he has the choice of really pursuing this and being forthright, or burying it. Either way, its all on CU and not on us. so if something comes up later and the ncaa says why didn't you give us this info, we say well we gave it to cu and expected them to handle it properly.

i personally am not pissed as i didn't think we would get him in the first place, but i can understand why the staff, if in possession of accurate and damning evidence, would feel like they have a duty to do something other than ignore it as they would with most rumors.

As far as I know, UT has nothing more than taped phone conversations between staff members and Darrell Scott. One of those tapes allegedly shows that Scott's mother told a UT recruiter what "CU" had offered in the form of employment for her to get Darrell to sign with CU. UT then allegedly said "thanks but no thanks" to her request to top the "CU offer".

What we don't know is whether or not that offer, if it even exists at all, came from CU or just a booster. It could easily be the latter, and the CU staff could be completely in the dark about it.

I think it's too early to assume that CU officials were part of this alleged job offer.

Ignore Bundy. He thinks cheating is OK.

Anybody with that attitude is an idoit and there's no sense trying to communicate with them.

No matter what you say, their value system just cannot figure it out.

"Because everybody cheats", which they don't, people like Bundy think cheating is to be tolerated and nobody should make any waves when/if cheating is discovered.

That's totally absurd thinking.
