Ideally, I'd like for Darius White and Wilson to committ soon. Give us a little 5-star power while letting Jeffcoat and Cobbs who they have to compete with if they want to come to Texas.
According to J. Hicks' coach, Texas is not in the lead for his services. The Link
Coach Cox also stated that in no particular that Florida, USC, Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia have taken an early lead in gaining the services of Hicks.
Zeke,
I would not worry about that update at all. Any list concerning Hicks that does not have Texas as a player is bogus. Hicks has said as recently as this week that he grew up a Longhorn fan and has always loved the Horns.
#20 could definitely be Reggie Wilson. There is a lot of smoke around this kid right now. There will be a decision announced by April 6th and most have Texas leading!!
Wilson could be Rak in training wheels by joining with the rest of the d-line arsenal recruited to Texas in the last couple of years. Are you listening Jeffcoat?
One sooner site is basically reporting that Wilson has narrowed his list down to Texas and TCU, and Texas is the clear cut leader right now. Basically they appologized for the positive reports they had made to sonner fans about Wilson earlier this year.
Its not like OU to concede a top recruit like this unless they have great information (not the Stoops has stopped recruiting him)...I hope their facts are correct.
Matthews saw inherent flaws in the Greg Davis OL blocking schemes and practice routines that would result in those schemes being rendered ineffective. Being a professional ex-All Pro, he thought it was funny to see such a flawed approach taken by such a high profile coaching staff.
Either that, or maybe he just doesn't appreciate perfection when he sees it.
As to UT's blocking, I would assert:
(1) Offense all starts with the OL and blocking
(2) Mack conspicuously takes his foot off the gas when ahead
(3) Texas has ranked as high as 1 and no lower than 14 in ppg over the last 5 years
(4) Only Boise State (as far as I know-- there may be another) has also (as UT has) scored over 35ppg avg each of the last 5 years.
That sounds like consistent success to me. I would like to hope the Matthews comment was merely a Scipio joke. I guess I will see.
How many scholies does Texas have available for the 2010 class? Before any possible early departures to the NFL, transfers, etc
Also, does anyone have that chart that showed the elite programs and how many 4 and 5 stars they recruited over the past several years? It listed both Rivals and Scout. It was posted on the main football board a few months ago but I can't find it.
i'm going to defend those guys a little bit here. they say when they release early lists that they don't have much information to go on and that we should expect lots of adjustment. actually, i think lists are a mistake and early lists are even bigger mistakes. but lists are the heart of their business, and they have to make them up, bogus or not.
HL.. that's what i looks like to me. throw in darius white, and we would pretty much have a top 5... possibly top 3 class committed already. of course, getting one or two of cobbs, jeffcoat, of hicks could make this a #1 class
The thought of Muschamp's defense going up against Stoopsie's 2010 offense without Bradford, etc makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I have a feeling it's going to be a while before OU beats Texas again and it feels great!! I know, I know we have to get past 2009 first, but damn the future looks bright!!!
i take nothing for granted when it comes to the game in dallas. its happened too many times over the years for both teams. every win over ou is hard fought and sweet as hell. now i'd love for us to run off 4 or 5 in a row. i wonder if stoops can take that heat as well as mack took it.
