Who do you expect to have a 'better' 08-09 season?

That's Right

The Longhorns basketball team or football team? It's hard to exactly define what constitutes a "better" season when comparing football and basketball, but who do you expect to be more pleased with (per se) when it's all said and done? Both will probably be ranked in the 13-17 range in the preseason, but the basketball team seems to have a bit more depth at this point. I think the big "x" factor for the success of the football team will be how well our young defense progresses and gets into a groove with Boom's new system. I do not have the optimism of recent years with either team, in terms of a national championship being a legitimate goal at the beginning of the season, however I do very much look forward to both seasons starting and eventually playing out. Both could be very fun, and both teams could be playing some really good ball by the end of the year. So, who do you out there think will have a "better" 08-09 season? Hook Em.

Apples and oranges...I think the basketball team may go a little further than the football team, but I think both may have better years than the one just past.

Have you checked the news lately? Abrams is coming back and that means 4 starters off of the winningest team in UT history, 31 games. I wish them both well, but right now, I would say basketball.

It's hard to just say one or the other, because of the inherent changes that have been made.

Football will have a new mindset on defense, but a whole lot of different starters on both sides of the ball. It'll be interesting to see if we can run the ball and come together as a group.

Basketball returns a lot from a great team, but loses the PG (and the obvious most important cog) that ran the show. On the bright side, they gain desperately needed guard depth.

Right now, I'd have to say anything less than Sweet 16 would be disappointing for Bball, and anything less than 2nd in the south division and/or Holiday Bowl would be disappointing for football. So whichever comes up better than those expectations wins for me.
