Where Does Bijan Go Tonight?

For the younger set, we have sent some of our best to Atlanta, starting with #60 as their first pick. Others include Alfred Jackson from Caldwell - great WR, class act, Earl's roommate; Shane Dronett from Bridge City, unfortunately gone too soon.

Anyone remember any other Horns in Atlanta?

While he wasn't drafted by them, Metcalf's best year was in ATL.

Justin Blalock spent his whole career there and only missed 3 starts. He's 4th in weighted approximate value among Longhorn OL in the NFL (behind Big Leonard, Jerry Sisemore, and Mike Baab).

My predictions for the rest of the Horns:
Rounds 2-3 (tonight): No one
Round 4: Roschon and Overshown
Round 5: Ojomo
Round 6: Coburn
Round 7: Jamison

FA signings: Cook and Tucker-Dorsey

Still cannot believe that # 60 isn’t in the Hall of Fame. What a travesty.

Congratulations, Roschon. Truly a generational teammate, leader, and a driving force during perhaps our darkest hour. We may never see a leader like this on and off the field. His leadership cannot be overstated.

Hook em, Big Guy, you led by example and your last year you helped destroy OU, and your last year at PNG you beat Nederland. Thanks for the memories.

I always underestimated Bijans success throughout his career here.
never did I imagine him a top ten draft selection.
my underestimations is a big reason for his success I believe.
So, in that light, I believe he will have very limited success in the NFL. Finishing his career with less than 2 thousand yards rushing over 5 seasons, then washing out. He made the most of what he can do.

I figured Jamison would get a draft look from a team who needed an 11th DB for training camp and a kick returner. There are too many speedsters now to potentially turn into the next Tyreek Hill (5th round pick and all-around mental case), so teams don't take risks on semi-proven guys. Glad that the 49ers nabbed him for at least the interim.

Thoughts on the other draftees:

2. Overshown - this is a "we're not going to be able to resign Kearse" pick. Yeah, he's listed as a safety, but doesn't really play it. They're virtually the same guy in terms of size and speed. Overshown will be listed as a weakside LB but get in there to spell Kearse, not Parsons or Vander Esch. I think he can make a name for himself if he plays about 70% as well as Kearse, which is attainable.

3. Roschon - the Bears need fresh leadership to match the exciting offensive opportunities they'll get with Fields, Moore, and a retooled OL. Roschon is the perfect man for that job. He'll be glue in the locker room and play well on special teams. I doubt he'll get many carries unless Foreman gets hurt, but the man is a leader and the Bears need it.

4. Coburn - KC has one of the best DT tandems in the sport already, so I don't expect much from his playing time. He's also listed behind Nnadi, who played ok in the playoffs last year. This is obviously a chip for depth.

5. Ojomo - Kind of "good news bad news" with the Eagles. They have a lot of guys on the DL where you just don't know their depth chart positions. They rotate so much that it's tough to pin down which spot any of them man. Ojomo will get a shot to join that depth, but he's WAY down the pecking order at either DT or DE, and it'll be a while for proving himself.
