Where are the tea party and militiamen??

Only in liberal world do you have the right to rough up store owners for cigars, loot the city and burn down businesses! Yahoo for Roger35's world!

I've never seen Roger derail a thread before and I certainly would not do so, but has anyone considered the fact that the child was stealing Swisher Sweets? For real?

What was he going to do with those Swishers?

Is it plausible that mr brown knew the cops would be looking for him and in his mind a confrontation was about to occur. And mr brown scuffled with the cop and did try to grab his gun.

Too busy to read all of the thread... pardon if some of this has been pointed out.

Towns Say 'No Tanks' to Militarized Police - WSJ, Feb 7, 2014
On this one, from WSJ, you may get a guest pass to read it.
I noticed something on the page to that effect
(I have a subscription but was not logged in, and could read it).

How Did America's Police Get So Militarized? - Mother Jones, Aug 14, 2014
This last one a bit long, but as with Mother Jones, covers some additional material.

1.6 Billion Rounds Of Ammo For Homeland Security? It's Time For A National Conversation - Forbes, March 11, 2013 ... quote from that one:

From an article I read. Saved the quote but not the link.

The worst part of outfitting our police officers as soldiers has been psychological. Give a man access to drones, tanks, and body armor, and he'll reasonably think that his job isn't simply to maintain peace, but to eradicate danger. Instead of protecting and serving, police are searching and destroying.

I gotta say "unarmed teenager" sure is a benign description of a man who is 6'4", 240 pounds and mean and hell from the short time I saw him on video. We're not blaming the victim here. The disadvantage of having a fearsome physical presence is that people will tend to bring as much force to bear as possible when you confront them. The cop has a choice. Do I risk this man overpowering me and taking my weapon and maybe killing me or others, or do I end this now with a bullet? Do we just tell people like Bundy willing to bring weapons to bear, or Brown, who was a physical bad ***, that they can do what they want or do we make them follow instructions from those enforcing the law just like I would?

Add 50 lbs to that description. Also, it now says he robbed the convenience store about 10 minutes before the officer confronted Big Mike and his accomplice.

So now the looters destroy the store he robbed. Seems like a bunch of thuggish opportunists to me.

I guess there's two kinds of protestors in Ferguson - those with legitimate concerns regarding the incident and those whose position is "I'm mad so Ima destroy property an get me some free stuff. Know what I'm talking bout, man?"

Really kind of sad.

The Tea Party has no stake in this. I'd heard the journalists were arrested after refusing to leave a local fast food joint. Not sure about peaceful protesters getting gassed. But, with the situation as it was, the police had to act.

Nothing shows the expression of freedom of speech and exercising civil liberties like looting and burning a liquor store or by throwing Molotov cocktails at police.
thank goodness the NBP are there to protect the ' peaceful "protestors.

Were the media members that can their cameras taken down by police and were arrested with no explanation then released with no charges looting?

Do not know and neither do you. Were they possibly inciting people to riot/loot? Do not know that either.

I hate to distract attention from the OP attempt to trash the tea party weirdos but a friend has pointed out that the reason the Gentle Giant was stealing a garbage smoke like Swisher Sweets was because they are ideal for hollowing out and filling full of less legal ingredients.

Strong arming a diminutive grocer is a sign of manhood, especially if the grocer is white or born in Syria or India or somewhere like that, And a real man doesn't just quit walking down the middle of the street when a cop tells him to move to the sidewalk.

I hope Tom Wolfe writes a novel about this zhit.

I note with interest that my favorite newspaper, the NY Times, appears to be following the Duke Lacrosse team paradigm again. I love this stuff to pieces.
