What was your first car?

George, nothing screams class like these mud flaps on a pickup truck - you should consider adding these to attract the ladies.

I hope that truck had just been washed or had backed a boat into a lake. There seems to have been some major shrinkage.

George knows shrinkage and that the ladies don't understand, he has to explain it to them. Then maybe chew some gum.

My first car was passed down from my Great Grandfather:

It was a 2-door '67 Chrysler Newport Custom with a 383. I loved that car but was simply too young to appreciate it and blew the engine. I'd love to have that car today and have often thought about tracking one down to restore it. I received the car in 1990.

Yeah, go ahead and be jealous. 1976 Ford Fiesta except mine had a sporty black racing stripe. If I hit the clutch just right this mother would do 0 to 60 in like 16 seconds. I did, however, get 40mpg and the $25 tires lasted forever.

I went for two wheels on my next vehicle with an 89 Ninja 600R. K&N carb kit, Vance & Hines header, racing sprockets, tires, etc. Now that bad boy would break 60 in just a couple seconds.....it felt. We'd drag race most Saturday nights on Decker lane when it was still out in the middle of nowhere. Got stolen in 91 and had my heart ripped out.

Even if I suffer from shrinkage, I'd still be more impressive than you.

Now george, you have been known to "expand" the truth, on things. As an architect, you have "built your own stories."

You can probably find a '76 Fiesta somewhere you could fully restore including the racing stripe and use for shuttling customers around the VolHorn4Life Hill Country Executive Ranch & Bordello.

I'd sa there was some over-compensation in that 2nd :)

nah. it had a leather back part of the top. kept that sucker for 10 years. good times, good times. hmmm I think it was just a v6 so not a grand national by any stretch but did allow nice leg room and a bountiful back seat. Still great for HS and college, etc.

mine was sort of like this:

Zork, I believe that was an '83 Cutlass - the last year Olds mfr. the larger chassis size. That was a good looking car... you still see a few of them around today. Unfortunately the Cutlass shrank a bunch and took a huge styling hit beginning in '84 if I recall correctly. I loved the old Cutlass and 4-4-2 series from about '68 to '83.

After college and starting a new job I bought my 3rd car, a 1979 Cutlass Supreme Brougham with a V-8 that was identical in every way to this photo down to the tires, except the body & mag paint color was dark blue. I loved that car.

JohnnyYuma, that's a great list of early muscle cars, some fine Detroit Iron. You don't have them set aside in your barn, by any chance?

We have certainly got a lot of "mileage" out of this thread, going form first, to second, third, and even beyond in cars owned.

It's time to take the next step, your future car, got my eye on one of these beauties. Why just drive, when you can fly or hit the water.

That is some real "pimpin."

Mine was a 1936 Ford Coupe with a 1941 Merc. motor. Hard not too burn rubber even in second. Like a dumb youngster I let it go because of mechanical brakes.
