What on earth are colleges teaching?

Of course there are many ways to evalute mastery of subject matter. But, if you know you have a test coming up, you know what the format will be and you know the material, it shouldn't be an issue.

I still don't buy the "not a test taker" line

I find that the younger people I hire don't take things like showing up exactly at nine seriously. Older people do. But, with that being said, most of the great ideas I've used to get promotions for myself have come from people younger than 30.

Think about the people at your work. As a general rule, I've noticed that most of the inovations have come from the younger crowd, who is also generally more sloppy. And most of the nitty gritty work has come from the older crowd. I try to go for both where I am. To the people in charge of new workers who are under me, explain that they are allowed to yell at the younger group for punctuallity, dress code, and and any other trivial issue. But they are never allowed to utter the phrase "Because we've always done it that way."

Knoxville-Horn -- Does that propaganda include "We're a legit football powerhouse?"

sounds like you have a lot of ****** applicants.

just remember - there are more average people than exceptional people.

When I read a resume I want to know what the person wants from me. That will tell me more than what they want to do for me. At the point I am reading resumes they can't possibly know what I am looking for.

Mike,

Not saying this fits your situation but I have a fellow that works for me that is the grandson of a good friend of mine. That is the sole reason I employee him. He is a goofy bastard and I can't stand him. He is reasonably good at his job. I send him all the fukhead resumes I get for him to review and interview. I would never send him one of anyone I would even consider hiring.

Not saying, just saying
