What now?

The fact they let KU celebrate on the 50 says is all. They don't give a damn. I hope 40 do transfer, I can't stand the lack of pride.

I'm sure this impressed all the recruits that were there for the game...

GOOD GAWSH ALMIGHTY, this program hit rock bottom in every way.

Indeed, if we start winning again, everyone will forget the EOT controversy including the players.

Texas will be BY FAR the most liberal school in the SEC. If someone really believes this is keeping certain groups from coming to play for Texas then the rest of the SEC would be filled with nothing but farm raised white boys

I used to think that there were huge differences between us and our rivals. The older I get the less I think that is true. I don't think our school, as in the students and alumni, are all that liberal. And even in Collie Station, especially among the millennial, they are not as conservative as we like to think.
That's as close as I have come to experiencing SEC culture though. They can't be much more conservative than aggy, or are they?

There is a real irony in play here. The rest of the SEC team players are majority black, as everyone knows, but somehow there is no demoralizing racist influence like at Texas
And Alabama had some serious racist issues in their history. But they seem to have gotten past that.
I think its because EOT fuels the problem.
Or am i off the mark here and its bad coaching or unmotivated players.
You would think the players would play to the best of their ability to make it to the NFL.

Respectfully, I think you're off on this one. I haven't heard of recruits avoiding UT because of the EOT. Nor did I see mass transfers out after the school affirmed its commitment to the Eyes. We did, however, see a notable number of transfers in.

IMO the issue is a "me first" sense of entitlement that was nurtured by the previous coach. And that entitlement is actively being confronted/removed by Coach Sark, Coach Davis, etc.

Major, you nailed this. The change in attitude and culture may take a while, and it may require flushing some guys out of the system - but it is necessary. We need to give Sark a chance to instill his culture and his recruits. If that requires sucking it up for another year, so be it.

We need to give Sark a chance to instill his culture and his recruits.

We have to. You don't get anywhere getting a new coach every couple of years. The worry is that we've already seen what Sark does when he has his culture and his recruits. Wins about 60% of his games, gets one decent upset per year, gets blown out a couple of times, and makes a second/third tier bowl.

So basically we're stuck with just hoping that it'll be different for him here than elsewhere because We're Texas and we have more money and fame which gets us more talent. Of course, one could argue that banking on We're Texas so We'll Be Good has been a huge part of our problem for the past decade in the first place....

Pompoms, your reference to the EOT controversy as being the basis of our problem reminds me of a line from the movie, As Good As It Gets: “I’m drowning here and you’re describing the water.”

If there are any lingering effects from the controversy, those players need to be gone, yesterday.

On to culture. My gosh. We heard that culture was a big problem when Mack was canned, and Charlie was going to change it. True, he dumped a bunch of players. How did that work out?

Then Charlie was canned and thin skinned Mensa Boy was going to change the culture. To his credit, he did. He made it worse. Now they say that Sark needs to change the culture. Enough already.

Either you can coach and scheme them up, or you can’t. Riley can. Gundy can. Campbell can, and the guy at Baylor apparently can.

Perhaps Sark and Kwiatkowski can, but so far we have seen nothing to support that expectation.

Besides Strong, with his 3 losing seasons, and Mensa, who would still be here if he had any common sense, thanks book smarts (questionable), when has Texas fired coaches every couple years. And, doing the math, no Mensa here, Strong got 3 years and Binder got 4, again thanks in large part to his stupidity.

Mega agree..All I know is that no one should take over from a fired coach and go severely backwards. Most of y’all expected a 9 win year or more because Herman was 7-3….Now the narrative is blame Herman. These guys are looking worse than Strong.
If we are going into the SEC in 2023. Fine give him another year. If we are going in 2022, money slap Traylor.

I think it's a Catch-22 for Sark. It seems like there are 2 types of players on this team. 1. Have the talent to be a difference maker, but won't do what they're supposed to do in a game. 2. Those that will do they're job as assigned, but don't have the talent to make a difference.

There seems to be very few of both, and that isn't changing soon.
I agree and understand what you are trying to say, however, if there is few of both out of 100+ players, then there must be a third type, no???

Longhorn flat circle fan cycle of recruiting;
1. Overly excited about getting 5 star players.
2. When they turn out to be busts or soft, say we need to get "hard workers"-3 stars.
3. When the 3 stars get crushed by a team with superior talent, we need to recruit better.

Texas rarely has more than a few 5* players.
At this point, it's not about the # of stars on the recruiting ranking. It's much deeper.

If they do, the clowning their players will perform on us will be hard to take.

What can be worse than letting a walk-on dance on the Horns logo with Horns down?
The fact that this team allowed it happen is beyond embarrassing - no pride.
All-time low.

After the 2pt conversion, walk-on dude sprinted to the logo and it showed the HC running and yelling, probably to prevent it. But did any Longhorn player prevent it? Sad.

I wasn't there but from what I can tell, that's what happened.

I know many of you don't want to consider this but if we want to be a playoff contender every season we may have to let "the eyes of Texas" go. I know the EOT controversy is thought of as being petty but some don't think that way. There are outside groups getting into the player's ears sucking the motivation away from them. That poison will always be there.
Perhaps we can recruit so well and achieve success and get a wave of momentum to keep the poison at bay but that seems unlikely. The song may have to go and that would be another example of a very small minority dictating policy over the majority.
It's too bad because without that poisonous culture influence i believe we would thrive as a team.
Bad or ineffectual coaching is not the the real issue here its the crybaby culture.

Song problem began in earnest in 2020.
Some football records :
2014 - 6-7
2015 - 5-7
2016 - 5-7

How did you decide the EoT is the problem?

Well, when has KU ever shown any class in any sports? Besides there's very few people that show sportsmanship any longer. It's at all levels of sports, I watch a lot of high school football and Team A is beating Team B, 49-0, 2 mins before halftime and get the ball back, run their 2 min offense to try to make it 56-0. How does Team B respond when they are given an opportunity to beat said Team A in the future? Team B will probably stomp on logo at 50 yard line after finally beating Team A. I'm not saying Texas has ran up the score on teams in the past, it's just we are still hated by all other big 12 rivals, especially now we are leaving this crappy conference.

Something has to be fueling the negativity and the lack of pride and effort.
But i am inclined to believe what majorules00 said above also

The guy rolling around the Longhorn on the 50 & flashing the horns down for over five minutes was not the receiver, but rather a lardass lineman with a number in the 50s. FWIW, he ditched his helmet before getting to the 50.

A lot of people calling for a bottom here.
..probably means it has further to fall

Further to fall, and a lot of time wasted in the process. As mentioned above in 2 yrs we're going to have to go thru the process all over again. Hopefully the folks who choose our next coach are sharper than the ones that chose sark

"5 star players vs 5 star culture". That was from an Iowa State player before they kicked our *** (then our guys laughed and giggled on the bus)

Sark doesn't seem like a guy to fire up a team, I expect more 'sand in your face' comments thrown our way until he's fired. A program can't survive this kind of humiliation for long

I respectfully disagree.
When you lose to KU at home you forfeit all right to play the pride card I'm gonna shut down your celebration thing.

And I thought the little chubby dude running to celebrate with his teammate and jumping up into him only to have said teammate accidentally clock him in the face with his elbow, knocking him to the ground and his helmet off was hilarious.
It was the only time I smiled or laughed the whole game

My wife is friends with a UT employee who says her job this week is to give away unsold tickets so that the stadium isn’t half empty for K-State. How pathetic is that?

Wasn't pooping you Clean just our overall situation. Wonder what seats they are willing to give away? Have to confess prime club seats would kinda irritate me, well unless it went to a vet or active service member, ok first responders would be ok too.

A former drummer of mine is an OU guy. He said that at the end of the Big 8, they were bussing kids in from all over Oklahoma to fill up the stadium. All for free. The product was just that bad.

Let me know who to contact for a free ticket, btw.

.

I think they offer them to UT employees first. After that, I don’t know what they do. She gave me tickets to the Tech game in 2019. They were in that curved section next to the north end zone. They were in the lower level about row 33. They were pretty good seats. Had a good view of the Tech cheerleaders.

My last Sark post as I am unable to think of anything positive and I hate being negative on anything UT..... I sincerely hope that all the people on this board who have some kind of wierd bromance with Sark are correct and those those of us who see the team getting worse and worse every week and who see no hope for a decent team as long as Sark are here are 100% wrong. If the record were somehow flipped with the wins coming at the end of the season, I could understand your optimism. But that is not the case. Also every conference win Texas has is against a program who fired their coach as their teams are aweful. Where is the silver lining to this mess? What are Sark fans seeing that I am completely missing?
