What If

5 games to go. What if: QE out for at least 4 weeks. Arch starts the first 4 and Texas wins all by at least 3 TD's. QE ready for Tceh. What do you do knowing Arch will burn his shirt if he plays?

I'm way too late to this thread but...."shirts" don't matter for players like Arch. He won't be here for 5 years.

Yeah, and if he really DID want to use a 5th year, he'd just do it with another college. The days of worrying about redshirting are long over. I think the only reasons to do it would be position changes (especially regarding weight) and learning curve.

Vol,

What happens if Maalik turns the jumbotron into a pinball machine? I think the kid is the real deal if Sark takes the restrictors off.

What if Malik has the ability to make guys miss. I don't know because I haven't seen him need elusiveness in a situation that calls for it.
What if Sark schemes a qb run? Draw or wide roll/option. Or a form of roll with the option to pass forward, keep, or lateral.
Malik has a different skill set (not saying better) than Quinn. Sark will respect that and eventually scheme for it. Maybe as early as this week. What if?

Now reading about the back issues and Maalik may give way to Arch sometime in 2nd half. The plot thickens.

Read somewhere - had to be on here or maybe an Ig wife sent me and I have no idea how to find it - but it said because of some back issue with Maalik Arch was expected to have some 2nd half playing time.

Yep I saw that also. So Arch will play some also. But realistically, back to the original concern about a redshirt season, five star players very rarely stay four years. Just the way it is now days.

I would love to see Maalik lite it up just like the next guy, but we also need to have realistic expectations. Of the top 20 QB's in QBR only 1 has been in college less than 3 years, the AZ QB a RS Freshman. And he threw 4 int. his first real game.

The odds of Maalik coming in and performing better than Quinn are less than 2%.

VY was terrible in QBR his RS-Fr year too. But the change of pace that he gave us, particularly in the KSU and NU games, was just as valuable as the contributions that Mock did with his Tech comeback and taking advantage of those senior WRs.

I don't think Malik has a skill set quite like VY's, but accounting for his differences from QE is enough to force defensive coordinators to create multiple game plans.
