What if

Good point. It affects recruiting. That's why this matters.
At this time in the season I do not see OU or Texas as a top five team in the country. But with the COMMITTEE, the best is only measured by the eyes of these back room big cigars. Texas will have to win out with some blowouts. OU just meeds to win out. My concern is with a steady improvement of this team from now until Texas football is back where it belongs. Good progress so far!

As to the Sooner Morning News. They like to get under the skin of Texas fans by promoting their darlings. Just like the rag in Austin with those writers....guess who. These guys think that by creating emotional reaction readers will come back for more. That is why I stopped reading the Sooner Morning News 10 years ago. From sports to politics that liberal rag is a waste of my time and money. And by the way, on a given day the yards of only a few houses in my neighborhood are littered with it.

Clemson might be on upset alert vs Florida State this weekend, but Georgia/Florida winner likely jumps us, so I predict we stay at #6.

Am I missing any other possible upsets?

Maybe us at Okie State?
Just messin with ya SN :coolnana: Dilly Dilly

And to think we almost had Rondale Moore all to ourselves. If only his HS coach had not made that move at that time. He is so strong for a smaller person. And can change direction about as well as anyone

Kid reminds me of Reggie Bush, he is going to be special, maybe Heisman Special.

I think 11am is a huge face slap.

Well, the TRUE champion, according to the Big XII is already determined before this game because every team plays errbody else during the regular season.

So, this game, is for what?

See any of SabreHorn's posts. He'll 'splain it well.

When Abe Lemons was basketball coach at UT, the SWC implemented a post-season SWC tournament to provide the official NCAA tournament entry from the SWC.

Lemons opined: "I don't get it. We play all year to see who wins. Then we play one game to see who loses?"

I think it was the fourth year of the SWC tournament, Texas played Arkansas in the finals, lost 39-38 as Sutton put piggy into 4 corners for most of the game, still legal with no clock at the time, John Wooden (ret. UCLA) was color commentator: "This is the worst college basketball game I've ever seen." or something like that.

The Big XII hurts itself with the football "championship" game. The two teams have already played each other during the season. Scoreboard.

A P.S. followup to my post above re: the Big 12 "championship" football game.

One might point out that the other "Power 5" conferences play a title game because their leagues are so big they can't play all fellow league members each year, thus a one-game playoff for them. Fine, but no one told them to get so large.

Why should the Big 12 (which used to be the Big 6, then Big 7, then Big 8), now with 10 teams, as compared to the Big 10 (which used to be the Big 9), now with 14 teams, try to "comply" with some silly suggestion of needing a conference "title" game, like the other 4 Power 5 do.

Uh, well, the ACC has 15 teams, including Notre Dame. But, BUT, Notre Dame chooses not to participate in ACC football (beyond agreeing to grace the ACC with playing at least ONE ACC team each season, well, isn't THAT special?), which is why the ACC has an even number of footballers at 14.

So, I say to Hell with them!

To paraphrase Otter, when he admonished the student assembly and faculty representatives of Faber College:

"But you can't hold the Big 12 responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted conferences.

For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole college athletic system?

And if the whole college athletic system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general?

I put it to you, HornFans - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society?

Well, you can do whatever you want to me, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to the NCAA badmouth the United States of America.

Gentlemen!"

If Texas wins out at 12-1, good luck keeping them out of the playoff.

I think this is right. When TCU gets left out maybe unfairly, all you heard was cockroach crickets, but leaving out UT would start a narrative about the system being broken.

Still, if this team goes 12-1 and was left out, I probably wouldn't be looking back on it as a National Championship that was stolen. The 12-1 2008 team that got left out, well, I will always regret that they lost their chance to play for it all. Would have liked to see Brian Orakpo, Sergio Kindle, Henry Melton, Roy Miller, Earl Thomas and crew take on Tim Tebow, not to mention our McCoy/Shipley/Quan offense.

I don't think this team is Title-worthy now, but if we manage to beat WVU, ISU, Tech in Lubbock, and probably Oklahoma for a 2nd team, I would start thinking that.

That TCU team was left out because of their uniforms.

If you had taken that exact same roster and put them in storm trooper whites with a white helmet with a longhorn logo; or if you had taken that exact same roster slapped on a crimson and creme uniform with a crimson helmet with a white paper clip on the side, they would not have dropped from #3 to #6 for beating a conference team at home by 48 points to achieve a 12-1 record where the lone loss was a loss to the #7 team in the country, on the road, on the game's final play. As opposed to a home loss to a 6-6 VPI team. But that's just me. I could be wrong.

But I'm not.

I would absolutely love for the attendance of this worthless piece of **** game to be a few hundred and for the television audience to be less than that of the Sam Houston State playoff game.

Bowelsby's brain fart needs to go away and take that cretin with it.

Now Sabre -

I think our first Big 12 Championship game at the old TWA Dome in St. Louis I think was at 11:00am. Still in my list of top 10 games ever. We were 3 orange dots in a Sea Of Red that Derek Lewis was running towards with the 4th down pass.

(You know me, and know me to be a good fan and a gentleman. However, in dealing with a druken, tee shirt, 4 toothed husker fan, I was not at mt best that evening. He slobbered at me that SWC had stood for "Sure We Cheat". I told him no, it stood for "Sure We Can.....(beat those Big 8.........vagaina's)". By the time he processed it, the valet had pulled my car up).
