West Virginia - Mountain Mama

Like I said as we already have the tie break on OSU, we have a better shot at the CCG than OU does. Even if they are favored over us it's not that much. Maybe 60/40 but won't play anyone with a pulse until they play us. I think this is to our advantage having already played LSU and OSU. Tough part of our schedule is behind us after OU.
Blow U has only played patsies and a middling team. They have not been tested.

I really like our chances against OU
Our offense can control clock and score.
Our defense has struggled but has played against 2 legit offenses. Who has OU played?

anyone who watched the OSU/KSU game knows OSU can control a LoS and run the ball but we took that away. Our DL can control the LoS.

LSU has done an inexplicable 180 on offense and shown they are a legit offense.

It’s just a matter of containing Hurts which is concerning with a QB who can run it and Todd Orlando’s defense. But I think our offense can play keep away and I am not convinced Hurts is any Kyler Murray. We’ll see once they play a team with a pulse.

If we get CoJo back, we may score 60 or 70 a game.
We may finally install that vaunted 10 yd minimum offense that we have all been advocating for.
However, with our injury depleted secondary, we may need that many to win.

Not having Sterns or Jalen Green for OU is going to smart.

Two things:
1. Hate FPI...that kind of analytics and the overreliance on it by media takes alot of the fun out of sport. Like all other computations used to try to rank or determine pecking order...it is flawed. The only "metrics" that matter are the ones divulged on the field through careful watching of games/matchups.
2. OU has a great offense....that is who they are. I won't call them a finesse team...they've had some good lineman. Football is a physical sport...it is usually won based on strength, the imposition of will, etc. As we have shown in some recent matchups not just with them but with other top teams, we have the physicality to win these games. Missing secondary pieces hurts....but I love the fact that TH is developing a team/program with an emphasis on toughness and being the more physical team. I believe we are a more physical team than OU and it showed last year.

Looking for a little college football fandom history here. Did couch burning originate at WVU or at An Ohio State University? Those are the two places I associate it with.

Hurts may be better than Murray. OU doesn't play anyone with a pulse until Oct 12th. OU's defense is better than last year, just don't know how much better at this point.

How does anyone know if the defense is better ir not? How are the offenses ranked?

Hurts is different and capable, but is his long ball better than Murray or Mayfueld? He is not as quick as Murray, but he is bigger. Can he read the receivers as well as Mayfield?

We will see.

Herman on Foster: “We’re planning on him playing and starting.”

Collin Johnson (hamstring) is a “game time decision”

DeMarvion Overshown “doubtful”

Green, Sterns, Thompson, Whittington won’t travel.

How do we know

They gave up 31 to Houston. How do we know they are better. Beating up on HS teams is irrelevant and I never look at scores until someone plays a real time. I just don't think whether you win 71-14 or 45-7 means anything. So much depends on how many offensive possessions you have based on the speed you play. Scores start to matter more once you play a better team. We essentially had 5 turnovers last game. 2 fumbles, 1 pic (bad route) and 2 misses on 4th down. Not many teams can win with that crap. Clean it up and we're going to beat OU. Book it.

Texas is 18-5 (.783) all-time in Big 12 road openers.

Tom Herman is undefeated in conference road openers as Texas head coach
17-7 @ ISU in 2017
19-14 @ KSU in 2018

So far in 2019, Texas games are being watched by an average of 784% more people than West Virginia games.

If you measured the overall viewership difference, it would be enough people to fill West Virginia's football stadium more than 181 times

Sounds like Cook may start at corner

We may also see true freshman Kenyatta Watson - they say he got lots of reps in practice this week (for the first time)

ou will probably be watching
