West Virginia Game

How can anyone not love this team?

We’ll drop some conference games here and there—the Big 12 is too strong and deep for us not to. But we could go very far with this bunch.

WV was such a challenge because Culver was a big nasty beast inside, coupled with two guys (McBride and Sherman) who were shooting lights out from the outside and the threes.

Wow! Wvu gets two offensive rebounds.

A Jones saves horns asss again!!!
Great game from him!!
This is a solid team. They were not shooting well and lost Sims quickly on mostly ghost fouls. Yet the team played tough and found a way to win. I am pushing my way to the center of the bandwagon now. :hookem:

Formerly mild-mannered Shaka brought out his inner Bobby Knight today. A couple of times he was really letting the refs have it.

The January schedule was always going to be a monster but this team just keeps performing. Massive road win today. Tech comes to town next week and it will be another chance to gauge the ceiling on this team which is getting higher and higher. Before the season if you had told me the Horns would go 2-4 on road against KU, Tech, WVU, Baylor, OU and Okie State I would have taken it. They are 2-0 already in those six road games and aren’t remotely done yet.:hookem:

Hey this team is pretty danged good. A gutsy win at a place that has always given us fits.:hookem:

The refs deserved it. They made horrible calls throughout the game on both sides. I think Sims must have insulted one of the ref's mother.

The 3 point shooting was awol except for Andrew Jones who was 4 for 7.
The rest of the team was 0 for 12.

Two views of this:
1) Andrew saved Horns asse, horns got lucky.
2) Horns had a very off day jump shooting, and still won an away game against an extremely tough and well coached team.

I'm leaning towards # 2. Andrew did save us with that last incredible shot. But Ramey's hustle rush down the court and terrific pass to a wide open Jones was also heroic.
And finally, as Chop said above, Shaka was on fire today. He woke up the team, with those intense "discussions" with the refs about those questionable calls that went against us all game.

Congratulations Horns on this win!!

Best part of the last play was Shaka not calling a timeout. Calling a timeout only helps the defense in practically all cases. It shows a mature team.

Thanks for posting^^^ We (certainly me) have criticized Shaka for not being a good coach for years now.
Credit given where credit is deserved. Shaka has been very good this season, and your point above is right on.

Yesterday was the first time the Horns were on ESPN because They were the highly ranked team not because we were plsying a highly ranked team.
And to win too? Sweet :coolnana:

UT v. Baylor sort of looms out there

Baylor 2
Texas 4
KU 6
WVU 14
TTU 18

I think 20 years back or so, this is where I thought we would be every season
I had no choice but to give up that dream

I am impressed with the Horn's level of play so far this season. In past years, seems like the team would do very well until conference play in January, then lose half if not more of their games, manage to get to the big dance and do a one-and-done. They did win the NIT in the past. That was fun to watch.
