In spite of some questionable ref calls at the end.

A good win. It was not always a thing of beauty, but the pieces are starting to come together. Back-to-back wins over UCLA.

Josh Shipp got the crowd on his *** a couple of times with the elbow to James and the stare to Mason after his dunk...I was happy to see him miss that last free throw...

UCLA had the ball for almost a 1 and 1/2 minutes at the end of the game and could not convert.
I give Barnes a huge amount of credit for not letting this team quit or get frustrated during that stretch.

We need Balbay to hurry up and step up to help run this offense. We cannot expect Abrams to shoot lights out every night, and hope to make a deep run in the tourney.

Good win. However, this team has A LOT of work to do. Things are not where they should be yet and we have to improve very much over the next ten games before conference. There are some positives, but there are a lot more negatives.

Some questions/ bad things:
- Damion James' offense- Where has it gone? Why is he not dribble driving and attacking the rack?
- PG- I still dont like Justin leading at the point but hopefully Dogus can get there sometime relatively soon.
- AJ- Defenitely forced some shots tonight. Doesnt need to shoot every time he touches the rock.
- The frontcourt- Aside from Gary, who is actually doing work and scoring down low? Anyone? We have depth and good players, they are just not producing right now.
- A go to guy in the clutch- I think it's AJ right now, but I'm not sure that's what we want.
- Careless-ness- Once we went up 46-36 in the 2nd half, we got careless with the basketball and let them score 11 straight to make it a game when we should have put it away for good. Take care of the ball and control it (Man, how much I took for granted DJ)

Other than that we were good. Good win, even better game to watch. I look forward to watching this team improve every game.

I haven't been to a game since I graduated in 2002, so things might have changed since then crowd wise (doubt it though), but last night was probably the loudest I have ever heard the FEC.

The short trip up to Austin was well worth it. Surprisingly, I am not tired after getting up at 4 am to catch my flight back to Houston this morning. Maybe I am still on a victory high.

Glad to hear the crowd was loud. Couldn't really hear it on the TV.

Tough win that should help build confidence. We definitely need others to step up offensively.

I really think Barnes sticks with Mason at the point and getting the majority of the minutes all season. Mason is not the best ball-handler, but Royal Ivey was worse and Barnes stuck with Royal at PG. Balbay can play some defense, that is for sure. Although he did get schooled by Collison when Collison used Balbay's agressiveness against him and got him caught on the wrong hip which allowed the drive and dish to Shipp.

That was an awesome and physical game last night. I think the only reason collison missed that last trey attempt was he had been bumped around so much. I hope we keep up the physical defense, it was amazing.

Stuck At Work -

Think that the guy closest to AJ thought it was a 1 and 1. As soon as AJ let the ball go, he got blocked out. Wasn't expecting it, and combined with missing, AJ rolled to the ground.

I like Champman, but how in the world does he keep missing the dunks and easy shots? He is also not getting the benefit of the doubt from the refs with regards to fouls, he was face first on the floor after he went up for a shot with no call.

The guy actually tried to do whatever he was doing after the second shot as well. I don't know, I was watching the ball but it looked like the guy was trying to purposely step on AJ's feet as he was entering the lane.

I watched the last two minutes when I got home from the game last night and on Abrams free throws the UCLA player blocked AJ out on both free throws(knocking him over both times, his hammy bothering him didn't help), after the second shot it looked like AJ was asking the ref why he was allowing it to happen..who knows

While watching the OU/USC game before ours I was thinking to myself that I hope we get some of the homer calls OU was getting.

We did not and as a matter of fact I thought we got jobbed several times.

What is up with that ?
Were those Pac 10 refs ?

There were certainly some bad calls down the stretch. Luckily it didn't affect the final outcome. Jay Bilas even made mention of it when Damion James went up for a rebound and came down with two Bruins on his back. The refs called a jump ball, but it was clearly a foul. It is what it is.
