NBHorn7
Pimp Daddy
Started going to UT baseball as a student back in the late 70's and met several people who post here and the owners.
I would like to thank Robert and Katy for hosting this board for so long as they did. I know it was a headache. Maybe some tech savvy people on here would like to pick up the mantle. If so I know people might be interested in helping out financially with donations. I know I would contribute.
The baseball thread thing got started one day when I believe FWHorn was doing it and had to leave.
I picked it up and having experience as a player, coach, umpire, and even broadcasting baseball it just kind of comes naturaly.
It became something I was sort of expected to do and though it could be taxing at times, it was also enjoyable.
With no access available to LHN, I went in search of links for the games and usually found them. The road games were easier to find. I liked providing them for fellow Horns and really anybody. Now that LHN is available to most people I guess that is one problem solved.
The game thread became like my old play by play days accept having to type action and relay decription of play in some detail can be difficult because there isn't a lot of time to do that between plays. That is why I completed a half inning before posting.
If you had computer problems or lost a feed there was a big problem. Even when a gnat would land on your touch sensitive screen. Often I had a video feed and the radio feed going at once or at least available for emergencies. I usually also had a tab open on game tracker to keep the line ups straight, especially for the opposing team.
Anyway I thought we would get in one more season at least and maybe go out on a national championship before Hornfans closed up shop.
I did try to make it entertaining even if I was at times opinionated about what was going on. Baseball has always and will always be a special sport for me and of course UT Baseball is at the top of that love of the game.
I have relatives that made it to the top level of success in the game as in winning that other World Series not played in Omaha in the "Show" and being a big part of why the team got there and then won it all. At one time I thought I might make it at least on the big time college level. But I fractured my throwing arm in three places in high school football and it never was the same after that. Oh well I know people don't need another hard luck jock story.
Still couldn't get the game out of my system and well that is where the UT baseball began and never left for me.
So I will miss this baseball board and doing those games even when I thought not many people cared if I did it or not.
I hope everyone that did will remember it fondly. I know that I will for the couple of seasons it went on.
So this is NBHorn7 rounding third and heading home for the last time. Good night sweet Prince and all the other things famous baseball announcers used to say at the end of a game. As always now and forever till Gabriel blows his horn.
So do we play "Nearer My God To Thee" on Halloween night like they did on the Titanic? I always believe in a little humor even in the darkest hour. Just ask the people that know me on this board.
