Slugging the hell out of the ball tonight. Kinsler, Murphy and Byrd (2) all go big fly, and Byrd has 5 RBI.

The boys can gain a game on the Angels.

YES! 9-5

This is more like it and what is required if the Rangers are going to win the division this season. Now let's get the W Wed night so we can even the series with the Anaheim Angles get back on track

Very nice to see the bats coming around, but they still need Josh in the lineup. Hopefully he'll be back this weekend. One game does not a season make, but this was a welcome win - and a win on Wednesday with Kevin on the mound would close it up to 1/2 game, with a big series coming in Anaheim. It would be nice to go into the All-Star break with a lead, but being anywhere within a game or so positions the Rangers well for a charge to the finish line.

I had concerns about the offense way back in May (go look at some of my posts during the month) and June has totally confirmed my fears. Yikes, we were hitting .220 as a TEAM going into last night's game.

HHD, Josh is awesome, but I'd temper my assumptions if you think he's going to be the cure-all for the lineup. Guy wasn't exactly lighting it up even before his stints on the DL, so it's safe to assume he'll take some time to get it going. Granted, it could be argued his health was a reason for some of his struggles, but he struggled at the beginning of the year, too.

We busted out for 12 runs versus SD only to get 1-hit by Chad Effin' Gaudin. We all KNOW we've got a lineup that can hit. The issue has been consistency. We've had very little, despite a year where starting pitching has been decent, which is the most frustrating aspect of it all.

OUE, you make a valid point. It is not realistic to expect Josh to provide an instant jolt - he has been on the DL, and it will take some time for him to regain form. But his presence in the lineup does add pressure to the opposing pitcher - and he will get some RBI and homers.

I had the good fortune of going to the Padres game last Friday Night when the Rangers appeard to blast their way out of their slump only to go back in the tank the next 3 games.

Chris Davis needs to either sit or go to AAA for awhile. And I've soured on Andrew Jones. His occasional longball is not enough to justify keeping him.

Mr. Jaramillo needs to start earning his paycheck.

I like to see both -- runs scored on the longball AND manufactured runs. Opposing pitchers need to
live in fear.

and the bats are not getting support b/c the manager wants to get francisco in the closer role when C.J. should actually be in there. did I just say that? but, it's the truth.

The return of Hank Blalock's bat!!!!

This should not diminish the fact that the manager has made a mistake determining who his closer should be. And the sooner he corrects it the better everyone will be.

Dude, I don't want to go overboard, but Blalock might have saved the season. If we blow that game, limp into the series against TB and get kicked around, things could have gone south in a hurry.

He needs to pitch in games - just don't toss him the ball in the 9th with a game to save and not have C.J. available in the pen.

Horn69, I have nothing to add, except that I wish I were that football in your sig pic!

I take back what I said about Andruw.

The boys on tv just said Michael Young is a .455 hitter with a 2-0 count...which he promptly goes to 2-0 with bases full and he clears them with a wall-banging double. Be still my beating heart.

Teagarden doubled in the second and scored a run. I'm right behind the plate, club level.

Nice to see the Rangers score 2 in the 9th off of the big ex-Owl Dewfuss Jeff Neimann. Even had to endure a visit from his pitching coach.

Mrs. HHD and I just got back from The Ballpark - terrific evening, with a bunch of fireworks from the Rangers' bats, followed by a superb fireworks show after the game. Nice to see Derrick Holland pitch a respectable game. He made a couple of mistake pitches that left the park, but he also showed the ability to bear down and get a key out when needed. He will become a solid starter for the team, but he still has some learning curve ahead of him.

My next game won't come until mid-August. Maybe it won't be 101 at game time then!
