Week 9 Prediction Thread: Texas vs. BYU...Lock Your Doors and Ignore the Door Bell

With the new week comes new challenges. The opponent is one we have some unfinished busy with and need to win...for obvious reasons.

Side Note: Not trying to offend anyone with the title of the thread or the animated gif. Apologies if I do.

BYU is 4-2. That is about all I know about them. I do know QE is likely out, so my prediction is based largely on our backup QB with limited game experience:

Horns 24
Coogs 14

I watched BYU-tceh after our game last night. I'm even more worried than I was after watching WVU-Houston. I just read we're over a 20 pt fav again, which proves Vegas hasn't watched us much.

Texas 28
BYU 24

34-24 Texas (note every time I predict a score that is closer than the spread, they win by 20 or so, and when I predict a larger margin, they win by one score or lose).

It would be funny if we blew out BYU because everyone would have been happier to know we blew out UH and beat BYU 31-24.

It’s impossible to handicap this team. Additionally, we don’t know what players are out, including Ewers, which I expect (not to play).

The good news: BYU may not possess the passing attack of the teams we have played the last three weeks.

TX - 31
BYU - 21

It’s all about pressure. Slovis can wing it if given time, like most decent qbs but he will sling it wild if pressured. DL is going to have to have one of their best efforts because BYU always has some big boys on the line.
Tx 41
Y 38

Did you disagree with me because Taysom Hill does actually have eligibility left?

Sorry about that grad. Honestly don’t know where that came from but I will say I expect they score more than 21 even without Hill. Imo it all depends on our ability to produce a rush cause I do not expect us to cover their receivers. Hope I’m wrong, or rather hope our scheme can bring the pressure.

Texas 31
Other Cougars 20

Ewers has been 96-104 adjusted completion percentage (removing throw aways and deflections). You don’t replace that. But running game will be strong and bet Malik hits a few deep shots. Our defensive game plan needs to change. Idk what has happened to the pass rush or what’s with lack of aggression on back end.
It should be noted, that our run defense is still playing stout, which is what BYU does (better than pass game at least) Sark also had 3-3-5 figured out in 1st and a half quarter and then stopped. Better be ready to see it from BYU and better be ready for the best version of that team
