Week 2 Prediction Thread: Texas vs Alabama...Season Defining Game

We need this win to start building confidence that we can hang with the big boys.
Longhorns are best when underdogs. It should be a victory if there’s fair officiating. I do not expect fair officiating this year and it will cost us at least 2 games. As Freud once said, “ before believing you and depressed and seeking therapy, make sure first, that you are not surrounded by asppoles.” In our case we could say, “ before believing you are paranoid make sure you are not surrounded by asppoles.” It’s not being Aggie if it’s real. I’ve lived all over the United States and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Hate for The State of Texas, and therefore the flagship University of Texas, is very real. In addition too much money is involved to expect a fair playing field. The Longhorns have to be very, very good to overcome..we’re only very good now. We could have Earl, Bijan, Vince and Casey on this team and we would still lose a game or two with what I expect to happen. What excites me is when we prevail nonetheless..that’s why the Embrace the Hate mantra is so important. Thing’s probably will not change in the SEC.

Pray I'm wrong, but I don't think our defense can do it all. One week is not long enough to correct an offense that looked like it had not improved from last year.

I love man on man coverage but we must go zone with a running QB. And we need a spy to punish him. With this defense we can and will win..unless there is another call like in last years game..this is a revenge game for us. Lesser teams can easily win in revenge games..that’s an immense factor. If the longhorns are determined and mad enough to run the ball we win. Baxter and creative play calling are the keys.

We’re not quite in top five territory until we are. Hopefully Horns show that they are there.

Who/which conference is the officiating crew for our game this week in Tuscaloosa?

And where were they born? Who did their family root for? Which team did the officials root against growing up? What I’m say is not that officials are necessarily going to make calls against the longhorns. It’s just that most people either hate the state of Texas or they like it. There’s no middle ground. So there are few officials growing up who liked Texas. At best, we won’t get 50/50 calls

33 longhorns 31 tide laundry soap.

Are we angry men who win football games? No we watch games and are old.
I hope the team brings the lumber. Win and we’re on our way. Lose and we quite likely have a QB controversy

Very hard-hitting game coming up in Tuscaloosa. Both teams have a week to work on issues from Week One. This one will be tight, but I'll go with the Horns

Nothing from last Saturday impressed me, especially Ewers. I'm also afraid that we're just one game away from a QB controversy. This might be that game.

There, I set the reverse jinx. It's bound to work.

I have so much freaking scar tissue built up over the last 15 years that I truly have no faith in Texas. But they do surprise me occasionally. I jut don't think it will happen this Saturday at Alabama. Saban will go for the jugular.

Damn I hope I'm wrong and it wouldn't surprise me if we won. Alabama just seems like they've lost a bit of their edge recently. The upset would be sweet but not epic.

I'd like to see manning in the game by mid 2nd qtr if ewers doesn't show IMMEDIATE improvement. Ewers knew coming in he had 2 guys breathing down his neck and still under performed vs rice. If we're starting slow sark needs to pull his head out. Find the future, quickly

My perspective has changed radically since yesterday. I can no longer pick with my head, so I’ll go with my heart.:

I just watched a fascinating IT live stream on YouTube. Not surprisingly, they were underwhelmed by Ewers and the OL. What I found interesting was the fact that they emphasized what they believe is the Achilles heal of the OL. When the OL doesn’t know pre-snap where the rush is coming from, they cannot adjust. They cited last year‘s Bailor game as a good example. It also happened against Bama last year, and it happened against Rice yesterday.

Unless we get great OL and QB play Saturday, we probably don’t have a chance.

too much Milroe and Ewers has another slightly better than average performance.
