Week 12 Prediction Thread: Texas vs. Kentucky...I Will Take the Family Pack Extra Crispy

No mobile QB = no RPOs, No roll left or right, no scrambling out of pocket = no championship.

But for Kentucky I will go

27 Texas
13 Kentucky

Driver, you opened the door for me, so here goes. Our quarterback is playing at a mediocre level, and “I’m” not being sarcastic. I want Quinn to be great, but he simply hasn’t been. For the most part, he has taken an elite offense, and turned it into mediocrity. Thank goodness for our “elite” defense.

Texas - 31
Kentucky - 6

With this defense, with these receivers, and with this OL, we should be blowing teams out. Some have criticized are running game. But think about this. When you don’t have account for the quarterback — because he poses no run threat whatsoever— how much easier is it to defend the running game? That reason alone is justification to put Arch in.

I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see how Quinn’s lack of mobility doesn’t come back to bite us when we play a good defense, like Georgia or TAM. That is, unless our stellar D can hold teams like Oregon, OSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss — or whomever we might face — to 10 points or less. That’s a huge ask.
Sooo, you know that the Kentucky held Georgia to 13 points; and beat Mississippi, right? Kentucky's weakness this year has been their offense. Their D is salty.

Our D should hold them to less than 20 points. If they score over 20 then we are in for another nail biter. Hoping our D's propensity for getting turnovers continues.
You said our QB, the leader of the offense, is mediocre. If that is true, then the horns will not score over 17 points against the KU defense.

I think our offense is above mediocre. I think our defense will wear the cats out. I think Ewers et al will score more than enough to win.

I don't break down film, and I don't rewatch a game the next day. But all this bashing of Ewers seems a smidge misplaced to me. My biggest concern about this team is our OL. I think they are highly overrated. But that's just my sense when I watch us play. Weather looks ideal for Saturday, and I sort of think we might have a bit of a chip on our shoulder. So.....

I take no joy in criticizing Ewers. I just believe that he is the key to winning the prize this year, or not. This team is loaded.

I believe that the OL has been pretty good. A number of those five players have been rated OL of the week in the SEC including Conner and Majors. Few would argue that Kelvin Banks and Cam Williams will not be first round draft choices in April.

May the football gods bestow QE some long range arm magic to blast Kentucky and then save plenty for the agroids, which will be our most difficult challenge game of the season by far. We will need all hands on deck for that renewal from a guy who was at the last one.

I don’t think anyone is “bashing” Ewers. It’s hard to argue that a QB for a blue blood program that is 9 and 1, and poised to make the playoffs, went from a Heisman favorite to not even in the running has met expectations. The players are now paid well, so they have to meet expectations. I hope he goes back to form and leads Texas to the SEC championship and a national championship.
