Freshman Level - Pick the Texas player whose father did NOT precede him as a player himself on an earlier Longhorn football team: Peter Gardere, Jimmy Saxton, Robert Brewer, Beau Trahan, Blake Brockermeyer.

Sophomore Level - In 1987, for the first time in Longhorn history, Texas won on the last play of the game. Who was the opponent in that game, and how did Texas score?

Junior Level - Texas beat Oklahoma in both the 1989 and 1990 games on TD passes late in the 4th quarter. The two receivers of these passes had been high school teammates. Who were the receivers and what high school did they attend?

Senior Level - In the 1989 game vs. SMU, a Texas offensive lineman was sucker-punched in the groin in the middle of the field - away from the other players and long after the whistle had blown. Who was the Texas lineman on the receiving end of the punch?

Fr- Trahans old man was all conference for the farmers.

Soph-Tony Jones caught a TD pass from Bret Stafford to beat the Pigs in Arkansas.

Jr.- Johnny Walker and Kerry [?] Cash. San Antonio Holmes [?]

Sr. -Want to say Stan Thomas, but doubt that is right.

Very nice, bullzak! You got almost every answer correct.

Great guess on Stan Thomas for the Senior level question - you are absolutely right.

Unfortunately, you missed one of the 3 questions on the Junior level.

Can anyone make the one minor correction for the Junior level?

I'll take Keith Cash for the win.

Sorry, Captain America, bullzak still gets the win.

But you get the save. Keith Cash is correct.

1. Brockermeyer.
2. Arkansas, won 16-14 on a Brett Stafford to Tony Jones pass. (Forgive me for not remembering the exact yardage.)
3. Johnny Walker ('89) and Keith Cash ('90) from San Antonio Holmes. BTW, I was standing in the back of the end zone in the exact same spot for both catches. Unbelievable, baby!!!
4. The sucker-punchee was Stan Thomas. Surreal moment as I've ever seen in a football game.

Homer Simpson: "Well not the leader..."

OK, OK, I knew No. 1. I choked.

Homer Simpson: "Well not the leader..."

I thought the Dawson field goal against Virginia was the first time we won on the last play of a game. Maybe it was the first time we won on a field goal on the last play.I kind of remember us kicking-off after the Jones' TD; on the other hand I don't remember a PAT.

Anybody remember this?

Wrnagler,

Dr J and everyone else are correct. The The Brett Stafford to Tony Jones pass in the 1987 Arkansas game WAS the last play of the game as time ran out during that play. (I do not remember how many seconds remained on the clock when the play started.) Texas was behind 14-10 before that play. I remember the TV camera showing the Arkansas coach throwing his hat on the ground in disgust after the play. Since time had run out and attempting an extra point would not have affected the outcome of the game, no extra point play was attempted.
