We are now the "Kansas" of the Big 12

At least getting beat by a walk-on who wasn't good enough to play a single snap before that game, when the guys in front of him were Kansas players who mostly were only there because nobody else in P5 wanted them, should put to rest the "We're losing these games because we just aren't that talented" stuff.

Oh come on, we just misjudged all those 4 and 5 star recruits we have. If Sark can just get his 4 and 5 star players to fit his scheme we'll be ok.

That hit me after we failed to stop Kansas in the red zone for the 7th time. We are now the laugher on everyone's Big 12 schedule.
Yes, KANSAS had 7 red zone chances and scored TDs all 7 times! we could not hold Kansas to a field goal ONCE IN 7 CHANCES. KANSAS had 17 3rd downs and converted 11! When we did stop KANSAS on 4th and 1 on the 35 late in the game, Coburn gets a personal foul and pushes us back to mid field. How many of you could not believe it when there was not a penalty on us when Jamison returned a punt to their 30 to gives us a glimmer of hope, surely the refs missed an opportunity to screw Texas one more time. They would make up for their oversight in OT by failing to call an obvious hold out in the open on the 2 point conversion. The biggest upside for me moving to the SEC, is no more Big 12 refs. Back to the game, when we score first in OT, Washington intermediately put the beleaguered defense in a bigger hole by getting a unsportsmanlike penalty for hot dogging. DKR used to say that when you get to the end zone act like you have been there before. The only personal foul I do not mind was the one on Karic, he was defending a teammate and another screw job by the Big 12 refs. Karic did not instigate the melee, a KANSAS player did. Should have been offsetting. Where was the PI penalty when a KANSAS DB ran over, and injured, Worthy? Our OL is getting other players hurt. I am sure Robertson has a broken wrist when a KANSAS DL was in the backfield as soon as Robinson took the hand off, a common occurrence.

I am to damn old for this crap. I have watched my last Texas football game.
Hang in there old. I am 73 and don't have much time and I have probably already seen out last football NC. But I am in for the long haul since 1956 and will stick with my team.

Bill, where have you been? I don't remember seeing a post for a while. But, this is a good one. But I think will see an NC run in 5 years. it will take some doing to fix this mess.

Please. Kids. No, they are not kids, and they were in game number ten of the season against Kansas. They have most likely been playing football since the age of 7 or 8, real kids.

They are men and should act like it.
I both agree and disagree at the same time.
19-20 year olds certainly shouldn't be classified as nor treated as kids..for sure.
But, unfortunately, most are these days. As are most people in their 30s and 40s now.
I say this all the time....
14-16 year olds from days gone by would kick today's 20-25 year old's butts in most every meaningful pursuit

Sorry this is not on Sark.

Horns need a deep clean. Take the pain all at once. It doesn't even hurt anymore. (that much).

Well I like Sark but it is 100% on him. We went from "hoping to play OU in Dallas again at the end of the year" 6 weeks ago to "we are expecting to replace almost 40% of our roster next year" on Monday...

Stop making sense.

Fan lost expectations are not necessarily a coaches fault. Sark got a team made partially of players who ran off the field laughing after losing to OU last year, rather than singing The Eyes of Texas. That behavior will require more than a new coach. cut out the rot, portal it away, do what has needed to be done for a while.

At 12 years old I personally witnessed much of the 1956 1-9 season where we did not block or tackle much, leading to the hire of Coach Royal. Lost 8 games in a row (ugh!), a couple in the 45-0 range. As Vince Lombardi famously said (paraphrasing)--"Football is blocking and tackling; you block and tackle better than the other guy, you win." Many issues this season, but that's #! in my book. Recruit and develop for that one major factor, and we'll be on the way back. At least we can't lose 8 in a row this season.

If you think that's bad, look at the bunch of players and losing culture that Lance Leopold got.

Something I noticed in the Iowa State game summed it up for me. Iowa State had the ball and one of their guys jumped early, cost them 5 yards and put them in (if I recall) a behind-the-chains down situation.

The next play they show the kid standing on the sidelines next to the coach. He screwed up, lost discipline, and he got yanked. And I'm sitting here thinking "How many times have guys on our O-line done something like that, and how many times did it cost them playing time?" The answer of course is "a whole bunch" and "not a single down."

There are way too many positions on this team where making a mistake doesn't cost you anything. When you don't have depth enough to trust a backup, and your starters now have absolutely no push from below them on the depth chart, you get the kind of play we're seeing right now. Guys who can't or won't perform their assignments on the field, guys who play with no consistency or discipline, and guys who generally appear not to have done their homework (so to speak) enough to understand where they're supposed to be on any given play.

Sadly, this is going to take more than a year to fix. I hope Sark is up to it because we can't keep shedding coaches and coordinators. This program has to have some consistency if it's ever going to get rolling again.
